Mission and Vision
Launched in June 2013, the GCNC supports Canadian signatories (both Canadian firms and subsidiaries of global signatories) in the implementation of the Ten Principles, while facilitating and creating opportunities for multisectoral and multi-stakeholder collaboration. The GCNC acts in accordance with the UN Global Compact’s principles and objectives. The GCNC holds a Memorandum of Understanding with the UN Global Compact and reports regularly on its objectives, activities and initiatives. The GCNC is a federally incorporated not-for-profit organization. It is selfgoverning with a Board of Directors and a Steering Committee.
Mission: The GCNC offers the Canadian business and non-business sectors a unique opportunity to learn and exchange best practices in corporate responsibility, within the network and among global peers. In doing so, we build the capacity of the Canadian corporate sector, empowering companies to embrace the UN Global Compact’s Ten Principles within their national and global operations.
Objectives: As the focal point for UN Global Compact signatories and participants in Canada, the GCNC facilitates dialogue, the sharing of best practices, and peer-to-peer learning between companies and other interested national and global stakeholders.
The Global Compact Network Canada is committed to:
•Promoting the best practices of Canadian companies globally;
•Collecting and sharing the best practices of global companies with Canadian network participants;
• Facilitating dialogue between Canadian signatories and participants, and UN Global Compact;
• Encouraging and supporting the formation of cross-sector and multi-stakeholder partnerships;
•Connecting Canadian companies to the broader UN Global Compact network through over 100 Local Networks and over 10,000 signatories.
