The Global Compact Network Jordan (GCNJ) was launched in February 2007 by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and the Ministry of Planning alongside private sector representatives. The objective of GCNJ is to increase the role of the private sector and civil society organizations in collectively addressing issues related to corporate sustainability.
On 18 December 2014 under the patronage of H.E. Dr. Talal Abu-Ghazaleh, in partnership with the UN Global Compact HQ and the Embassy of Netherlands, with the participation of the Amman Chamber of Commerce, and in the presence of over 80 representatives from the business community, Government, academia, civil society and other stakeholders, GCNJ was re-launched in Amman.
Vision: A sustainable and inclusive Jordanian economy.
Mission: The mission of the JGCN is to popularize the UN Global Compact’s Ten Principles and to promote corporate social responsibility and active citizenship among Jordanian companies, organizations, and academia. It endeavours to build public trust, and eventually, momentum for action via an open, informal and fruitful model of partnership and cooperation.
