Overview

The UN Global Compact was officially introduced in Russia in November 2001, and the Global Compact Network Russia was launched in December 2008.

The Russian Network joins together almost 80 participants, including large companies, small and medium-sized enterprises, business associations, non-profit organizations and academic institutions from 16 regions of Russia.

The General Assembly, the Local Network’s highest governance body, defines the network’s priorities and approves its annual reports and plans. The Steering Committee is the collegiate governance body and is headed by an elected Chair.

Since 2013, the Russian development institute (State Corporation “Bank for Development and Foreign Economic Affairs (Vnesheconombank)”) has acted as chair and leader of the Local Network.

The activities of the Russia Network centre around initiatives, projects and events in four areas as defined the Ten Principles of the UN Global Compact. The network additionally addresses a wide range of issues concerning responsible corporate practices and sustainable development. Participants of the Global Compact Network Russia host 50-70 targeted events annually.

The Global Compact Network Russia has established itself as a competent participant in the international discussion around business and sustainability.
