The Global Compact Network Germany was launched by German companies in 2000, making it one of the first Local Networks. It is comprised of approximately 300 business signatories ranging from DAX companies to small- and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). They are complemented by around 80 non-business signatories from civil society, academia and the public sector.
The German network provides opportunities for local business to engage in corporate sustainability matters, exchange ideas and work together to advance practical solutions. It aims to develop information materials, tools and learning platforms for corporate social responsibility (CSR), compliance, sustainability and risk management. Each activity is aligned with the UN Global Compact’s Ten Principles focusing on human rights, labour standards, environmental protection as well as the prevention of corruption.
Ultimately, the network aspires to encourage meaningful change and establish sustainability standards along the entire value- and supply chain.
