Designed for a group of 20 to 40 participants, and rooted in the UN Global Compact’s Ten Principles, each Action Platform will convene business, leading experts, civil society, Governments and UN partners to solve complex and interconnected issues, explore new market opportunities and innovate around the SDGs.

Take part in our upcoming Webinar Series to learn more about the Action Platforms including how engaging in this work will support your company’s contribution to the SDGs.

Business for Humanitarian Action and Peace

Thursday 1 June, 2017 at 10:00-11:00 am ET

According to UNOCHA, 80% of humanitarian crises are linked to conflict. Due to the scale, complexity, duration and recurring nature of today’s humanitarian crises, the current system is increasingly insufficient in meeting – let alone solving – humanitarian needs.
Action is needed as crises occur, but alongside more focus should be placed on preventing conflict, minimizing human suffering, and supporting sustainable peace and development. In fact, humanitarian action alone cannot prevent conflict, nor can it fully end humanitarian needs if solutions to end conflict are not found.

The Business for Humanitarian Action and Peace platform brings together companies, UN entities, civil society organizations and Governments to explore the connections between the 2030 Agenda and the Agenda for Humanity, thus building connections between peace, humanitarian and development actions. This webinar - hosted by UN Global Compact and moderated by RL Leaders - will continue the conversation started at the Making Global Goals Local Business - India event. It will provide an update on the Action Platform and highlight opportunities for private sector participation. Participants are invited to share insights and provide further feedback on the planned Action Platform activities.

Platform participants will receive expert guidance and identify innovative ways to report on their SDG progress. Through self-assessment exercises, participants will determine the SDGs that are most material to their business and improve how they communicate on their contributions in those areas. Participants will also collaborate on the development of a validated list of business disclosures across the SDGs and contribute to a publication on leadership and best practices for business on SDG reporting.
