Teresa Jennings is Head of Rule of Law Development for LexisNexis Legal & Professional, which provides content and technology solutions to professionals in legal, corporate, tax, government, academic and non-profit organizations. In that role, she develops relationships with outside parties to create, develop and advance Rule of Law projects around the world. She also secures funding for projects to ensure laws are accessible, legal systems are transparent, individuals are treated equally under the law, and independent judicial systems are developed.
Teresa worked with Advocates for International Development (A4ID) on a project to highlight the importance of Goal 16 (Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions) and its critical relationship to each of the other Global Goals. A4ID developed an SDG Legal Guide. LexisNexis worked with A4ID to help them understand, and ultimately adopt, the LexisNexis definition of the Rule of Law: equal treatment under the law, transparency of law, an independent judiciary and access to legal remedy.
Teresa served as a voice on the Steering Committee on the Global Alliance for Reporting Progress under Peaceful, Just and Inclusive Societies, working with Member States and civil society to advance Goal 16 reporting. She introduced the Global Alliance to her parent company, RELX Group, and has collaborated in developing the RELX SDG Resource Centre, a free information tool that uses technology and analytics to provide reports, news, journal articles and events to support attainment of the Global Goals. Teresa also provided information to the internal team developing a Legal Acumen course for all senior executives across LexisNexis.
Teresa regularly speaks to diverse groups to advance Goal 16, such as the Inter-American Bar Association, the African Business Law Firms Association, the Wilson Center, the US Institute of Peace and CEELI Institute.
