    To our stakeholders: I am pleased to confirm that Rekopol Organizacja Odzysku Opakowań S.A. reaffirms its support of the Ten Principles of the United Nations Global Compact in the areas of Human Rights, Labor, Environment and Anti-Corruption. In this annual Communication on Progress, we describe our actions to continually improve the integration of the Global Compact and its principles into our business strategy, culture and daily operations. We also commit to sharing this information with our stakeholders using our primary channels of communication.

  • Rekopol Organizacja Odzysku Opakowań S.A. is a packaging recovery organisation that was created by entrepreneurs that place products in packaging on the Polish market.
    We takeover and fulfill the recovery and recycling obligation as well as the obligation to conduct public educational campaigns, in regards to selective waste collection.

    With a broad value chain, Rekopol Organizacja Odzysku Opakowań S.A. participates in multiple projects and initiatives that promote environmental protection. In year 2019 we run:

    • 33 picnics, events and workshops
    • 44 trainings, lectures, conferences and presentations

    In total 1 020 207 people participated in educational activities that were run or supported by Rekopol Organizacja Odzysku Opakowań S.A.

  • Rekopol Organizacja Odzysku Opakowań S.A., in cooperation with the Global Compact Network Poland and other companies, organizes multiple events, i. a.:
    The Grey Area & Used Oils – proposal of regulation
    The Global Compact Network along with the Ministry of Finance and the Ministry of Enterprise and Technology organized, in the headquarters of the Ministry of Enterprise and Technology, “The Grey Area & Used Oils” conference. During this event Mr. Jakub Tyczkowski, the President of Management Board of Rekopol Organizacja Odzysku Opakowań S.A., gave a speech.
    Rekopol Organizacja Odzysku Opakowań S.A. also joined „SPG11 – Sustainable Cities” program.
    Gala UN Day 2019
    On October 24th 2019 „THE UN DAY” gala took place. It was organized within the limits of United Nations Day. On this occasion Global Compact Network Poland handed over distinctions to companies that were the most involved in “Ethical Standard” and “Preventing the Grey Area” programs. Rekopol Organizacja Odzysku Opakowań S.A. received distinction within the limits of “Preventing the Grey Area” program. It also receive distinction for supporting “SPG11 – Sustainable Cities” program.

    The Economic Forum in Krynica
    During The Economic Forum in Krynica "Transparency as the requirement for development of the healthy economy" debate was held. Its participants included: Mr. Marek Niechciał, the President of the Management Board of The Office of Competition and Consumer Protection (UOKiK); Mr. Przemysław Hofman, the Director at the Ministry of Enterprise and Technology; Mr. Maciej Lachowski from The Ministry of Investment and Economic Development; Mr. Łukasz Kolano, the Executive Director of Global Compact Network Poland; Mr. Alain Simmonet, the President of 3M; Mr. Łukasz Kwiecień, the President of the Management Board of PKO TFI; Mr. Lech Hołda, the President of the Management Board of PKP Energetyka S.A.; Mr. Jakub Tyczkowski, the President of the Management Board of Rekopol Organizacja Odzysku Opakowań S.A.

    The Coalition of the 5 Fractions
    The Coalition of the 5 Fractions is cross-sectoral initiative, of companies and institutions. It aims to:
    • Increase the level of correct waste segregation among the residents.
    • Improve the credibility and transparency of communication in regards to recycling and especially in regards to packaging.
    • Create clear and understandable for everyone label that will allow companies to tell consumers what should they do with packaging.
    The project initiators are CRS Consulting and ENERIS Ochrona Środowiska. Rekopol Organizacja Odzysku Opakowań is in the board of experts.

    The 17 Goals Campaign
    The Polish Plastics Pact is cross-sectoral initiative in favor of sustainable use of plastics by business in Poland. It was created within the limits of “The 17 Goals Campaign”.
    In year 2019, the initiative aimed to develop the Road Map of transitioning to more sustainable use of plastics in Poland.
    The campaign was launched by the following companies and institutions: ALPLA Group, Carrefour, Coca-Cola HBC Polska Brand Opener, Coca-Cola, CSR Consulting, Global Compact Network Poland, The group of Danone companies in Poland, Nestlé, Pepsico Polska, Rekopol Organizacja Odzysku Opakowań S.A., Santander Bank Polska and Unilever. The Pact is supported by Advisory Board and Scientific Board.

    The Polish Plastics Pact
    In year 2019 The Polish Plastics Pact in favor of sustainable use of plastics was created. It was set up by a group of entrepreneurs that place products in plastic packaging on the Polish market and companies involved in the packaging value chain. The Pact’s objective is to develop solutions that will allow more sustainable use of plastics in the Polish economy.
    CSR Consulting is the initiator of the Pact. It is run within the limits of “The 17 Goals Campaign” that mobilizes business in Poland for undertaking actions in favor of fulfillment of the 2030 Agenda.

    The Centre for Sustainable Packaging
    The Centre for Sustainable Packaging is a platform that collects knowledge and new solutions in regards to sustainable packaging. It constitutes support for companies that need guidance on new packaging regulations and helps evaluating which packaging, in accordance with CE idea, is sustainable and recyclable.
    This event was organized by CSR Consulting and Rekopol Organizacja Odzysku Opakowań S.A. within the limits of “The 17 Goals Campaign”.

    EcoDesign – sharing the knowledge about recyclable packaging
    Rekopol Organizacja Odzysku Opakowań S.A. constitutes a platform of knowledge exchange, (between recyclers, waste collecting entities, manufacturers and packaging designers), in regards to ecodesign. This know-how is gathered in the process of interviews and field visits and it’s shared during open sessions, advisory, trainings, seminars and individual meetings.
    Rekopol offers information about: the ability to process packaging materials in Poland, on an industrial scale; barriers that prevent recycling; and colors, shapes, sizes and structure that make packaging recyclable. Rekopol Organizacja Odzysku Opakowań S.A. also evaluates packaging usefulness for recycling, on the basis of recyclers knowledge and experience.

    Rekopol Organizacja Odzysku Opakowań S.A. participates in numerous conferences, symposiums, meetings and exhibitions i. a.:
    • The Sustainable Packaging Forum
    This is the first imitative of this type in Poland. The various companies from the packaging value chain together looked for innovative, more eco-friendly packaging. The event was organized by the Centre for Sustainable Packaging, which collects knowledge and innovative solutions in regards to packaging. It was created by CSR Consulting and Rekopol Organizacja Odzysku Opakowań S.A. Carrefour i Carlsberg Polska were the partners of the Forum.
    • Zero Waste Trade Fair
    The main goals of the trade fair are: education, promotion and dissemination of products and services that make decrease of waste production possible. The trade fair consisted of all-day discussion panels and lectures devoted to zero waste at home, work and during travel. It was a perfect opportunity to learn about the simple solutions that can immediately help in reducing waste production. Rekopol Organizacja Odzysku Opakowań S.A. was one of the exhibitors and it participated in two discussion panels.

    • Steel: 20 957 732 kg,
    • Aluminum: 9 809 400 kg,
    • Wood: 38 256 525 kg.
