  • PSA’s commitment to sustainable development:

    PSA Peugeot Citroën is committed to addressing the challenges raised by the greenhouse effect, road safety and urban mobility (http://www.sustainability.psa-peugeot-citroen.com/en/index.php?niv1=1&niv2=11&niv3=2), considered as the three challenges for sustainable mobility, and to fulfilling its social and environmental responsibilities against a backdrop of rapid changes in society. All of these commitments underpin our Group’s continuous and harmonious development.

    Annually, PSA Peugeot Citroën undertakes a priority action plan, made up of annual and multi-annual actions regarding the 3 major challenges and 5 other topics (industrial environment, solidarity, labour relation policy, purchasing and subcontracting, transparency). It reflects the commitment of the entire Group to promote sustainable development.PSA Peugeot Citroën has met the priority targets it set for 2004 (http://www.sustainability.psa-peugeot-citroen.com/en/index.php?niv1=1&niv2=11&niv3=3&year=2004).

    Concerning the efforts to control the greenhouse effect, the Group launched the ‘Stop & Start’ system on the Citroën C3, and ranks first in Europe in the segment of vehicles emitting less than 120 g of CO2/km. The Group sold 330,000 vehicles in this category in 2004, for market share of 31%. Also in 2004, the Group launched a number of new vehicles featuring an array of technological innovations to promote road safety, such as the Lane Departure Warning System. On the social front, an innovative agreement on diversity and social cohesion was signed by all the trade unions.The Group is pursuing an approach based on continuous progress with its priority action plan for 2005 (http://www.sustainability.psa-peugeot-citroen.com/en/index.php?niv1=1&niv2=11&niv3=3&year=2005).

    In addition, at the end of 2004, PSA Peugeot Citroën launched a study on identification of stakeholders in order to better formalize and reinforce its stakeholder policy and to improve dialogue with stakeholders.

    Reporting on Sustainable Development is done according to the Global reporting Initiative (GRI) guidelines and a GRI Index (http://www.sustainability.psa-peugeot-citroen.com/en/index.php?niv1=7) is provided on the sustainability website as well as an index presenting the correspondence with Global Compact principles (http://www.sustainability.psa-peugeot-citroen.com/en/index.php?niv1=7&niv2=8).

    This second issue of the PSA Peugeot Citroën Report on Sustainable Development reflects the improved performance of the Group’s global organization in collecting information. From now on, the scope of this Report (http://www.sustainability.psa-peugeot-citroen.com/en/index.php?niv1=1&niv2=12&niv3=3) also covers the environmental indicators from Faurecia, the Group’s automotive parts supplier.

    The Group''s methods for compiling social and environmental data for 2004 were checked by an independent firm.
