  • PSA Peugeot Citroen communicates with stakeholders on sustainability and implementation of the UN Global Compact principles through its 2003 Business Review report (http://www.psa-peugeot-citroen.com/document/publication/2003_Business_Review1087222718.pdf) and its Sustainable Development Online Report (http://www.sustainability.psa-peugeot-citroen.com).

    In 2004, PSA Peugeot Citroen has formalized the principles of its Sustainable Development action in the economic, social, and environmental fields in a website dedicated to stakeholders. In addition to the challenges identified by the group, Sustainable Development website presents an action plan. It also describes the group''s strategy concerning its economic, social and environmental responsibilities and provides detailed information about the execution of the UN Global Compact principles. "Correspondance with Global Compact Principles" section proposes links to the appropriate page containing the carrying out of each principle.     The company promotes Global Compact principles towards its employees and partners. Thus, in 2003 a mailing was sent out by the purchasing division to raise awareness on membership to Global Compact. In addition, the group implements social and environment requirements in "Contractual and Economic Specifications" documents.

    In the environmental field, the Sustainable Development website describes the group commitment in favour of technologies allowing the reduction of local pollutants and CO2 emissions such as:

    "Employees" section of the Sustainable Development website
    (http://www.sustainability.psa-peugeot-citroen.com/en/index.php?niv1=3) presents the group action in the field of Human Resources and in particular the involvement of PSA Peugeot Citroen in training in countries where there is a shortage of technical skills. Another joint initiative with the French Ministry of education is the "technical teachers without borders" program that organizes intensive technical training courses in other countries (http://www.sustainability.psa-peugeot-citroen.com/en/index.php?niv1=5).

    Moreover, the principles of human rights such as non-discrimination, respect of health/safety in the work place and labour rights are included in the group''s code of ethics, which formalizes the principles of action and behaviour implemented by senior management and employees.

    Reporting on Sustainable Development is done according to the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) guidelines and a GRI Index is provided on the website.

    PSA Peugeot Citroen is a member in a number of French organizations that promote environmental stewardship and mutually responsible development, including Comite 21 (Comite 21 integrates sustainable development into managerial practices), Entreprise Pour l''Environement (EPE develops efficient environmental stewardship processes engaging companies and promoting their capabilities in this area) and the Institut du Mecenat de Solidarite (IMS supports companies in implementing their social responsibility strategies).

    The social and environmental performance of PSA Peugeot Citroen was expressed in 2003 by the integration of the group to ASPI Eurozone index, which selects the best companies on social and environmental criteria.

    Moreover, the group was considered in 2003 "first ethical company" by the French people, in a survey achieved by l''Observatoire des Valeurs Ethiques about CAC 40 companies.

    Sustainable Development website, which was launched in 2004 by PSA Peugeot Citroen presents the action plan under which the group undertakes. This plan includes the actions concerning the 3 major challenges of the automobile sector: Greenhouse effect, Road safety and urban mobility.
