  • Fuji Xerox communicates with stakeholders on sustainable development and implementation of the Global Compact principles in its Sustainability Report 2003. The report describes the company’s commitment to labour protection (see page 13-15), underlining its “Respect of Diversity” policies (equal opportunities for men and women, Employment of disabled, etc) and its “Health and Safety” policies (reduction in labour accidents, annual physical checkings, etc).

    The report also mentions Fuji Xerox’ implementation of the Global Compact principles, particularly in the area of Environment (see page 19). The company’s Environmental Policies and Strategies are listed from page 20 to page 23 of the report, and the company’s Environmental Performance is described on page 53.

    The Sustainability Report 2003 was prepared in accordance with the Global Reporting Initiatives (GRI) Guidelines and to the Ministry of Environment’s reporting guidelines. The report has received third-party verification from Chuo Aoyama Sustainability Certification Organization Co., Ltd. (see “Notes on Sustainability Report”).

    Page 52 of the report lists awards that Fuji Xerox has received, including the Environment-Conscious Company and the Green Company Prizes.

    In the future, Fuji Xerox intends to make organizational changes to enable production of a report covering not only environmental issues but also human rights and labour standards in order to communicate on its commitment to the Global Compact principles on a larger scale. The 2004 Sustainability Report will be expanded in scope to include all of Fuji Xerox’ overseas affiliates.
