    I am pleased to confirm that Detasi Co. Ltd. reaffirms its support of the Ten Principles of the United Nations Global Compact in the areas of Human Rights, Labour, Environment and Anti-Corruption.

    In this annual Communication on Progress, we describe our actions to continually improve the integration of the Global Compact and its principles into our business strategy, culture and daily operations. We also commit to share this information with our stakeholders using our primary channels of communication.

Human Rights
  • Assessment, policy and goals
  • Description of the relevance of human rights for the company (i.e. human rights risk-assessment). Description of policies, public commitments and company goals on Human Rights.

  • Development projects/work which results in improvement in human rights.

  • Implementation
  • Description of concrete actions to implement Human Rights policies, address Human Rights risks and respond to Human Rights violations.

  • Distribution of Sorghum and other dry food rations to displaced Nuba Mountains (South Kordofan) persons living in camps in the outskirts of Khartoum.

    Distribution of dry food rations to hundreds of families in River Nile community schools.

    Continue to provide school meals to about 100 children from poor families attending school located South of Khartoum.

    Financed extension of girls’ high school in Mois Village south of Shendi to help promote girls’ education in the area.

Labour

  • Provide high quality labour opportunities, especially in areas with high unemployment and decreasing prospects of employable persons.

    Ensure no discrimination in company's employment policy.

  • Introduced planting of good quality dates trees in Shendi (200 km North of Khartoum) with a focus on employing local labour.

    Established a HR policy which promotes the right employment environment in the company, in addition to clearly specifying unauthorised labour practices (child labour, forced labour).

  • Close monitoring of performance of employed labour, with special attention on ensuring continuous development of capabilities and skills.

    A thorough employment process to ensure the HR policy is followed.

Environment

  • Finance and manage community development projects which help overcome environmental challenges.

  • Finalised digging of Himairab Village deep water well. Water was analysed to help ensure clean water access.

  • Measurement of outcomes
  • Description of how the company monitors and evaluates environmental performance.

  • Management of the water well to ensure any maintenance needs are met and functionality of well.

Anti-Corruption
  • Assessment, policy and goals
  • Description of the relevance of anti-corruption for the company (i.e. anti-corruption risk-assessment). Description of policies, public commitments and company goals on anti-corruption.

  • Contribute to initiatives which promote anti-corruption, mainly through practical business practices and offering opportunities which lead to better management of corruption.

  • Implementation
  • Description of concrete actions to implement anti-corruption policies, address anti-corruption risks and respond to incidents.

  • Participated in the launch event of Business for Peace (B4P) initiative (17 – 18 November 2014) and committed to fulfilling its recommendation. The initiative works towards introducing business practices which promote peace through corruption-free business activities.
