    To our stakeholders:

    I am pleased to confirm that SOR System Sdn. Bhd. reaffirms its support of the Ten Principles of the United Nations Global Compact in the areas of Human Rights, Labour, Environment and Anti-Corruption.

    In this annual Communication on Progress, we describe our actions to continually improve the integration of the Global Compact and its principles into our business strategy, culture and daily operations. We also commit to sharing this information with our stakeholders using our primary channels of communication.

Human Rights
  • Assessment, policy and goals
  • Description of the relevance of human rights for the company (i.e. human rights risk-assessment). Description of policies, public commitments and company goals on Human Rights.

  • • We ensure our workers are provided with safe, suitable, and sanitary work facilities.

    • Our company ensures our employees are in good health and well-being for better productivity at work.

    • For Corporate Social Responsibility, our company supports the initiative by Happy-Riders Connect called, Mari Membaca - reading programme.
    • Mari Membaca serves to support children (B40 community) from low-cost housing areas to develop the interest in reading and overcome their vocabulary limitations with the addition of a flagship library kiosk.

  • o Before leaving the office, we ensure to sanitise exposed and most-touched surfaces.
    o We continue to update office Standard Operating Procedures according to current times.

    o Employees are allowed to work from home if unwell; to prevent the risk of spreading any chances of contagious diseases.
    o Employees are required to practice a weekly RTK-Antigen test record results in the prepared logbooks.

    o SOR System powers the initiative with a fully running library app.

  • Updated COVID-19 Policies at Workplace
    o Our COVID-19 standard operating procedures (SOP) are updated accordingly with the best practices to ensure our employees are informed of the instructions and requirements to be safe.

    Under the Mari Membaca - reading programme:
    o We are serving more young readers who borrow books through the fully running library app created for the Mari Membaca reading programme.
    o As of 8th December 2022, we have more than 50 members registered as borrowers for Mari Membaca.
    o Our system houses more than 1000 books in the library app.
    o We formulate volunteer handbooks in case of handing over duties of Mari Membaca to volunteers, as well as a library app manual.
    o The Mari Membaca website is completed where we host and designed the website, as well as help put together the content.

Labour

  • • We fully comply according to Malaysia’s employment laws, such as basic wages, working hours and leaves.
    • On top of that, we have other benefits provided for our employees such as medical, allowances, and a yearly bonus.

  • •. We continue to offer internship programmes for students studying Diploma and/or Degree in Information Technology (IT) or the related field; with the opportunity to take on real life projects to gain experience and improve on their professional development.

  • SOR Internship Programme:
    o We have accepted students into our internship programme for them to gain hands-on experience in the real-industry setting through projects that not only are of industrial level but also, ones that are suitable to their interests as well.
    o As of 11 May 2022, we have accepted Diploma in Information of Technology students from (Multimedia University) MMU for May intake.
    o As of 8th August & 3rd October 2022, we have also accepted students from University Technology Malaysia (UTM) from different programmes such as Software Engineering, Computer and Network Security, and Graphics and Multimedia Software.

Environment

  • • We implement a digital business card via QR code to cut off the use of paper for physical business cards.
    • We have provided a designated space for recycling materials.

    • We no longer use fax and proceed to communicate with clients via email or WhatsApp to reduce the usage of paper.
    • We save electricity by turning off the air-conditioners and lights when not in use and set air-conditioners to a comfortable 25° degree Celsius.

  • o Currently, we recycle waste papers, cardboards, plastics, and electronic waste (e-Waste).

    o As of March 2022, we currently only switch on the main air-conditioner while the secondary air-conditioner will be switched on once a week for maintenance.

    o We sanitise the exposed areas or the most touched surfaces before leaving the office using disinfectant liquid, complying to the COVID-19 standard operating procedures (SOPs).

  • • This year, we have reduced the electricity bill by 15%.
    • We have inculcated a green initiative by using QR codes as digital business cards to save paper and reduce clutter.

Anti-Corruption
