  • Minimizing air, water and land pollution:
    1. Debris chute installed at various stages of construction to minimize air pollution
    2. To curb land and water pollution, sedimentation tanks are maintained. The aggregate from these tanks is used for back filling, and excess is distributed to nearby communities.
    3. Disposal of Bentonite slurry, used in pile foundations, is done in appropriate manner, in order to prevent health hazards.
    4. Treated water from sewage treatment plants is used for flushing in the toilets, for curing and for gardening purposes.
    Steel:
    1. AAC blocks are used for masonry works as it reduces dead load and corresponding quantity of steel.
    2. Waste cut-pieces bent/ distorted steel bars are reused by straightening and welding and used for tremix flooring
    3. Scrap reinforcement steel is sent to steel re-rolling mills and recycled,
    4. Centralized steel yard is maintained for controlling the wastage.
    Renewable energy:
    1. T5 and LED Energy efficient lamps and efficient electrical systems are used for reducing the electricity consumption.
    2. Solar energy system installed at the head office building as well as at the select project buildings as to reduce conventional mode of electricity.
    3. Timer based lighting systems are preferred.
    Cement and concrete:
    1. Fly ash is used to save on cement.
    2. AAC Blocks are used instead of Burnt Bricks
    3. Pre-stressed pre cast hollow core are manufactured in house which are used in building secondary structures and compound walls. This saves carbon foot print and creates employment opportunities at local levels.
    4. Uncoursed random (UCR) stone masonry wall for low height filling is preferred instead of RCC retaining wall to save on cement. The stones found during excavation are used for this purpose.
    5. Waste mortar from construction is sieved and used for secondary structures, for refilling and for casting of paving blocks
    6. Production of paver blocks/ tiles from waste concrete is done which is used -
    a. at new projects for creating basic infrastructure
    b. for pavements to access locations during monsoon
    c. for pathways around site infrastructure
    7. Concrete sample cubes (which are crushed and tested for strength) create a huge waste at all sites. These broken cubes, instead of wasting are used in filling the common areas under parking spaces. Excess is given to the nearby communities who are in need.
    8. Concrete and other cement waste is used below flooring in parking areas, rectification of construction path ways etc.
    9. Waste Concrete, brick pieces, tiles etc. are filled in parking areas instead of throwing.
    Plastics and related material:
    1. PVC panels are used owing to its durability and recyclability instead of ply wood. The damaged prefabricated PVC panels manufactured by using empty cement bags (recycled by melting and remoulding) are used multiple times and for long term. This process cuts the recurrent ply wood demand thereby saving trees.
    Preference to green building materials:
    1. Eco friendly construction material like Wood plastic composite (WPC), geo panels are used for shuttering panels,
    2. For water proofing and for door frames. PPC sheets are used which has fly ash and other waste material which reduces the consumption of cement.
    3. Water soluble paints are preferred to minimize usage of turpentine
    4. Unplasticized polyvinyl chloride (UPVC) pipes are used for water lines.
    5. Thermal resistant paint / heat reflective coating done terrace tops.
    6. Instead of granite and marble preference is given to vitrified tiles.
    Preference to local materials
    1. Basic building material like crush sand, aggregate, red bricks, hardware material, river sand, metal etc. is procured locally as to boost local entrepreneurships as well as to minimize the carbon foot print.
    2. Ready mixed concrete (RMC) is prepared on site for RCC work to reduce carbon foot print
    3. Calibration of all equipment as per schedule is ensured to minimize wastage, prevent excess use of materials and for optimum efficiency.
    4. Suitable Excavated earth is used for backfilling in plinth and trenches and land development. Top soil is preserved and is used for gardening purposes after the building is ready.

  • Measurement of outcomes
  • Description of how the company monitors and evaluates environmental performance.

  • Controlling and preventing environmental damage :

Fly ash used wherever possible. Around 20% of the cement per cubic meter is saved.

Excavated earth is used for backfilling in plinth and trenches and land development.

Prefabricated Panels (In-house product) and geo panels are used for all structures below plinth as they are repetitively used and are recyclable. This has saved around 1,45,000 square meters of wooden shuttering there by saving trees.

All instruments for weight measurement and Batching Plant are calibrated regularly to prevent excess use of materials

    Reuse and recycling of material:

Almost zero waste of steel is practiced as the scrap steel is used for tremix. Scrap reinforcement steel is sent to steel re-rolling mills and recycled, bent steel is reused by straightening and welding. Approximately 250 tones (Around 10%) of steel recycled and used.

Damaged prefabricated panels along with empty cement bags are melted and remolded for repetitive use and for long term use.

    Renewable energy:

More than 42000 KWH solar energy was generated
