    To our stakeholders:

    I am pleased to confirm that Beauty Connection Spa reaffirms its support of the Ten Principles of the United Nations Global Compact in the areas of Human Rights, Labour, Environment and Anti-Corruption.

    In this annual Communication on Progress, we describe our actions to continually improve the integration of the Global Compact and its principles into our business strategy, culture and daily operations. We also commit to share this information with our stakeholders using our primary channels of communication.

Human Rights

  • Beauty Connection Spa (BCS) is a strong supporter of female empowerment, and human rights are part of the core objectives of the company’s operations. It practices the rights that are essential for dignified and decent human existence, which includes the rights of the employees to expect their basic needs to be fulfilled. Adequate development of human personality is also highlighted which comprises the right to freedom of speech and expression, cultural and educational rights.

  • All employees, from the top management to the service provider staffs, have the right to work in an environment that is safe and healthy. We have a zero-tolerance approach towards acts of violence, harassment or other actions that compromise the health and safety of our subordinates. Beauty Connection Spa practices transparency and provides employees with the information required for collaboration, cooperation and collective decision making in the workforce. All employees are familiar with bribery and corruption laws, their roles in the business, their responsibilities and the appropriate response to any suspicion of corrupt activity. We also adopt a liberal democratic style of management that makes all employees feel involved and included—this fosters loyalty and strong bonds. Employees know that they have a family of support in times of need.

  • The company recognizes that staff know their work, and their points of view are considered in the decision-making policy of the company. In fact, so much importance is given to their points of view that it can be safely be said that the staff are the policy makers. We are committed to delivering equality based on diversity, fairness and equitable treatment of all employees. By embracing an inclusive culture that supports a diverse talent pool of 280 trained employees (95% women), the entire workforce collaborates successfully and enables the company to effectively compete in the international and local marketplace and stand apart from its competitors

Labour

  • BEAUTY CONNECTION SPA is a predominantly a woman’s company where 95% employees are women. We take pride in employing widows, orphans, single women, uneducated and person with disabilities - giving them a chance to earn a good life for themselves and their families.

  • We take on raw unskilled staff, train them for 6 – 12 months, until they have acquired the skill, expertise and capability to be professional in their work; the important element to note here is that while they receive their training, from day one, Beauty Connection Spa pays them a full normal salary.
    Beauty Connection Spa recognizes the fact that the staff know their work and their points of view are given great consideration into the decision making policy of the company. In fact, so much of importance is given to their points of view that it can be safely be said that the staff are the policy makers. As mentioned earlier, Beauty Connection Spa adopts a liberal democratic style of management which makes all staff members feel involved and included.
    As mentioned earlier, the members of the staff know that they have a family of support in time of need. Beauty Connection Spa allows the staff 3 months maternity leave which is far more that the statutory requirement. Women staff who do not drive, have been provided with transport.

  • Talented members of the staff have been given an opportunity to educate themselves further at the cost of Beauty Connection Spa and sometimes they have also been sent abroad for training and to enter into competitive events.
    Any award or prize won by a staff member is duly recognized and publicized within the company and outside. This enables our female staff to be up to date with the industry expectations. To reward hard work, honesty, integrity and capability Beauty Connection Spa rewards members of the staff with all paid foreign holidays.
    The women staff know that after they have been trained and have worked in BCS they are sought after by others in the industry. This fact gives the women an opportunity to become economically independent and its boosts their confidence and morale.

Environment

  • Beauty Connection Spa along with our sister company, Be Connected International, provides a wide range Beauty products for spas and salons. We do have our own manufacturer to maintain the sustainability of the products offered, especially disposables.

    In terms of the design and facilities, we assure that we maintain a properly hygiene environment and workforce. At Beauty Connection Spa, it is our commitment to provide only the highest level of services in a professional and relaxing atmosphere.

  • We are using 100% disposables and non-woven products for all the services we are offering, as we promote “1 time use only” to maintain our advocacy. Furthermore, reducing water and energy consumption is also been practiced to lessen costs as well as improving our environmental sustainability performance.
    During the two to six months training of our staffs, Beauty Connection Spa provides manual for the steps, dos and don’ts in doing the services to make it sure that it is properly monitored and followed. One of the example is training them not to use the product twice in a customer as well as using disinfectants before and after the service (disposable towels should be used once, spatulas, etc).
    Moreover, once the staffs are ready for their actual work, supervisors are also monitoring their performances. Quality, cleanliness and providing a world class practices in beauty industry is being practiced, from the staff up to the managerial position.

  • Beauty Connection Spa is a Beauty Factory and Trusted One Stop, Beauty Destination for all beauty lovers.
    Quality, cleanliness and providing a world class practices in beauty industry is being practiced by us, from the staff up to the managerial position.
    We assure every employees and customer to provide them the cleanliness of the premises. Moreover, unlike other salon/spa, we are having a scheduled and surprise checking to maintain the properly cleaned and hygiene materials and facilities that the staff owns to provide the health and wellness to the clients along with beauty.

Anti-Corruption

  • Transparency are always been a practice at Beauty Connection Spa. We provide the full information required for collaboration, cooperation, and collective decision making inside the company. Wherein, we ensure that all employees are familiar with the relevant bribery and corruption laws, their roles in the business, their responsibilities and the appropriate response to any suspicion of corrupt activity.

  • The members of the staff have been given an opportunity to free legal services should they desire. BEAUTY CONNECTION SPA pays its staff their salaries as well as hefty 50 % commissions and this is an initiative of the company to help the female staff to be economically independent. The commissions also help improve the marketing skills of the employee. The staff, due to the commission policy, extend themselves to their potential so that they increase their earning abilities. It is pertinent to note that a vast majority of staff earn commissions which far exceed their salaries. The commission policy has worked with tremendous success. Beauty Connection Spa has employed several members of the families of the current staff to help them to settle and live together as a family.
    We also have inductions and briefing to all the staff with regards to the UAE Labor policy, Salary Implementation so that all of them are well aware for the things happening inside the company
    Moreover, in terms of third party coalition, we make sure that we have a monitoring and reporting requirements for agents and partners representing our business. In fact, our CEO make sure to attend regular meeting with company managers, department wise, supervisors, staffs, suppliers and business partners.
