  • Dear Mr. Secretary-General,

    we herby declare the ongoing commitment of Proficool FANS Sp. z o.o. to the Ten principles of United Nations Global Compact with respect to human rights, labour, environment and anti-corruption and our continued support for the UN Global Compact.
    Proficool FANS Sp. z o.o. has made Global Compact part of its strategy and daily operations of the organization and we intend to take further actions in support of UN goals.

    Company’s way of implementation of the Ten principles of the Global Compact - a description of practical actions Proficool FANS Sp. z o.o. has taken or plans to take to implement the Ten Principles in each of the four areas can be found below.

    Since this is our first Communication of Progress (COP), we are not able to indicate if any past goals were met. However, we describe how is our business performed in accordance with „Ten principles“ and we set in each area measurable targets that we have for the future term.

    Although Proficool FANS Sp. z o.o. ranks among SMEs (small and medium sized compenies), it has implemented Integrated Management System and we gained certifications based on ISO 9001 (quality management), ISO 14001 (environmental management) and OHSAS 18001. We consider the implemented Integrated Management System to be one of foundations for our responsible and ethical business. In June 2016 we accomplished our second external ISO audit and at this occassion it was confirmed that Proficool FANS meets all quality system management requirements under ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and OHSAS 18001.

    Proficool FANS Sp. z o.o. will inform all of its stakeholders and public about the ongoing commitment to the Ten principles of United Nations Global Compact with respect to human rights, labour, environment and anti-corruption and about our continued support for the UN Global Compact.

Human Rights
  • Assessment, policy and goals
  • Description of the relevance of human rights for the company (i.e. human rights risk-assessment). Description of policies, public commitments and company goals on Human Rights.

  • In the area of human rights, fundamentally, we are deeply committed to respect, follow and support the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, international standards in this area, as well as Polish legislation, respectively legislation of all states where we operate. As for Poland‘s legislation, human rights are guaranteed by the Polish Constitution (2nd Chapter). Poland signed and supports the following international agreements relevant to human rights: Convention for the Protection of Human Rights and Fundamental Freedoms, Universal Declaration of Human Rights, the Helsinki Accords, the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights, the International Covenant on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights and the Convention on the Rights of the Child.

    In the daily operation of Proficool FANS Sp. z o.o. we are strictly avoiding situations that could have a potential negative impact on human rights and we make sure that we are not – in any way – complicit in human rights abuses.

  • Implementation

  • Internally, top management of Proficool FANS Sp. z o.o. makes sure that all employees are treated with dignity and respect. The management regularly meets employees and communicate on daily basis. Equal opportunities are provided in all areas of business activity and employment and we avoid any kind of discrimination (especially but not limited to: gender, age, nationality and race). The proportion of women employed at Proficool FANS is high, besides that relatively rich spectrum of nationalities is represented among employees and collaborators – which we see as an asset to company culture. Specifically, employees rights, and a guarantee of equal opportunities are included in company’s document „Work regulations“ (Regulamin Pracy, issued in 2016).

  • Targets for 2016-2017

    Our goal for the next term is to carry-on in the human rights and equal opportunities support and continuously monitor our business activity in order to avoid complicitation in human rights abuse.

Labour

  • Proficool FANS Sp. z o.o. deeply cares about the safety, health, well-being and satisfaction of its employees and avoids all kinds of discrimination and employees rights violations. Forced, compulsory and child labour are not present in our organization.

    As mentioned in the previous chapter, employees rights, and a guarantee of equal opportunities are included in company’s document „Work regulations“ (issued in 2016), which is – as we believe – a solid foundation for prevention of discrimination in respect of employment and occupation.

  • Implementation
  • Description of concrete actions taken by the company to implement labour policies, address labour risks and respond to labour violations.

  • The occupational health and safety (OH&S) policy defined by top management was communicated within the organization and made available to interested parties. The OH&S is implemented, documented and is appropriate and includes a commitment to continual improvement and prevention as well as compliance with all relevant legal and other OH&S requirements. OH&S objectives focus on continual improvement of the occupational health and safety of the employees.

    Proficool FANS Sp. z o.o. has also established and maintains a procedure for the ongoing hazard identification, risk assessment and implementation of necessary controls.

  • Targets for 2016-2017

    The goals for 2016-2017 include: continuous employees rights and equal opportunities support, continuous communication with employees (besides daily communication, we plan to organize a 3-days company teambuilding event in autumn 2016). In the area of health and safety protection, we plan installation of the filter device dust and regular monitoring of the use of personal protective equipment.

Environment

  • Among others, we deeply care about the environment and one of our long-term goals is to eliminate our environmental impact. The environmental policy has been established by top management at Proficool FANS Sp. z o.o. and it was communicated and implemented in the organization. It is suitable and it includes commitment to continual improvement and compliance with the applicable environmental laws, regulations and requirements.

  • Description of concrete actions to implement environmental policies, address environmental risks and respond to environmental incidents.

  • Proficool FANS Sp. z o.o. maintains a procedure for analyzing and evaluating the environmental impact of new activities and these processes are appropriately reviewed and controlled. Proficool FANS Sp. z o.o. has implemented and maintains a program for realizing the environmental objectives.

  • Targets for 2016-2017

    Key environmental aspects, objectives and targets set for 2016 are:

    Minimization of:

    • Mobile and stationary air pollution

    • Installation of local heaters
    • Installation of the filter device dust

Anti-Corruption
  • Assessment, policy and goals
  • Description of the relevance of anti-corruption for the company (i.e. anti-corruption risk-assessment). Description of policies, public commitments and company goals on anti-corruption.

  • Being a company registered and mostly operating in Poland, we are bound by Poland’s Criminal Code that includes active and passive bribery, bribery of foreign officials, extortion and money laundering. We of course respect the national legislation of all sates where we operate. According to researches business entities face moderation corruption risk inside the Polish judiciary system. According to Business Anti-Corruption Portal Polish companies believe the judiciary to be largely independent from political interference but feel the effectivness of the legal framework to challenge government regulations or to settle commercial disputes as weak.

  • Operating in an environment described above is a challenge to take but Proficool FANS Sp. z o.o. – besides respecting the laws and international agreements – is ready to adopt measures and implement internal policies that will eliminate future risks of being involved in corruption of any kind.

  • Our goal for the next year is to more profoundly educate our employees about practical ways how to steer clear of situations that could lead to legal or ethical concerns.
