    I am pleased to confirm that Arabian Gulf Mine Action Company reaffirms its support of the Ten Principles of the United Nations Global Compact in the areas of human Rights, Labour, Environment and Anti-Corruption.
    While offering Arabian Gulf Mine Action Company, represented by its Director General and its staff of administrative and technical, our sincere appreciation and thanks to the support program of the Global Compact for demonstrating the cooperation and support of our company , we would like to express our sincerity and seriousness as we continue to provide full support of the Global Compact and renew with confidence and determination on this and continue to strengthen the bonds of cooperation and communication and the exchange of ideas and visions wich are binding us to see the honesty and express goodwill and that will strengthen national capacities for our company and the national staff .

Human Rights
  • Assessment, policy and goals
  • Description of the relevance of human rights for the company (i.e. human rights risk-assessment). Description of policies, public commitments and company goals on Human Rights.

  • DESCRIPTION OF ACTIONS
    In order to introduce the main business line of our company, we will start by presenting a few concepts which is the clearance of ERW (Explosive Remnant of War) and eliminates the risk mitigation to the minimum accepted and making the land effected by it more inhabited and for using either by the population of Iraqi people or for commercial explorations companies in either for oil and gas commercial companies or by the energy companies.
    Furthermore, the main concept for working with mines and UXO (Unexploded Ordnance) is based on the IMAS ( International Mine Action Standers) which is presented by the UNDP and GICHD.
    Hence, we will be addressing our company work on those concepts and relating them to the ten principals.

  • HUMMAN RIGHTS
    To describe our company action and those which has been taken in the area of human rights can be summarized in the following :
    - Since our business is to work with a very dangerous context, so the keeping a safe environment for all those working on the field is a challenge we have been facing since the establishment of our company, and we achieve to provide a safe, suitable and sanity working context and facility by providing the PPE for the searchers in the field in addition to the MEDIC team that supplied with full equipment and staff for the site field.
    - Considering the work type, our main working employees are men especially in the fields (100% male working context) except in the office and we totally forbidden all kind of harassments, abuse or threats.

  • - taking serious measures to eliminate designs, defects or side-effects that could harm or threaten human life and health during providing our services to clients whether in miens and UXOs technical surveys, clearance operation, or disposal of the founds.

Labour

  • LABOUR
    Arabian Gulf Mine Action Company have plenty of measures that has been taken in the field of labor, as an example :
    - our employment contract is to make sure that the employee is in the legally working age (which is 18 years in Iraq) and that would be provided by the national Iraqi ID that each Iraqi citizen have.

  • Implementation

  • - The wages and the social security are being continuously controlled by the auditing system by either the ministry of labor or the local government.

  • - The criteria that been used to select our employees is based on the knowledge for the ERW risk mitigation knowledge that each selected employee have and then a full training will be taking place to make sure that the employee can mitigate the size of the risk in this job.

Environment

  • Our work is based on an environmental concept, since its taking the clearance of deadly objects and eliminates their threats on all kind of lives either human, animals and planets. Not to mention its effect on the climate changing water and air.

  • We are also to ISO 9001:2008 for our Quality Management Systems; ISO 14001:2004 for our Environmental management Systems and OHSAS 18001:2007 for our Health and Safety Systems.

  • Arabian Gulf Mine Action Company can monitor and evaluate environment performance by the records we keep for each and every incident , which has been 0 this year and that's we are proud of.

Anti-Corruption

  • Arabian Gulf Mine Action Company, has been fighting hard against corruption in all our business, some of those actions are:
    - by assessing the risk of corruption and its effect on the work, especially in an area that still having conflict with a very vicious enemy and as our battle against ISIS is still ongoing, though our work based in the south of Iraq, but that does not eliminate the risk of facing the side effect of such war. And one of those side effects are the corruption that been exacerbate in our community far worse than before.
    It is a challenge in itself, fighting the corruption in a country like Iraq, and as we work in a very critical business context for such critical period.

  • - all our contracts, either those of employments or clients, are containing a full details of anti-corruption as well as the code of conduct statement that we make sure that our business partners are reading it and make sure they agree to its content.

  • MEASURMENT OF OUTCOMES
    Arabian Gulf Mine Action Company can summarize the most relevant indicators to measure outcomes by the following examples:
    - Demographic of management and employees can be beak down as :
    - Gender (male: 90% , female: 10%)
    - Ethnicity: Arabs 100% (Islam 95% - Christians 5%)
    - Age: 25-45 years = 45% , 45-55 years 45%, over 55 years 10%
    - Rate of occupational diseases is 0%, injuries = 0% and absenteeism= 10%
