    To our stakeholders:

    I am pleased to confirm that North Coast Strategies reaffirms its support of the Ten Principles of the United Nations Global Compact in the areas of Human Rights, Labour, Environment and Anti-Corruption.

    On June 19, 2019, in a letter to United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres we made a commitment to work to advance the principles outlined in the United Nations Global Compact within our network. This report serves as the Communication on Progress (COP) to the United Nations Global Compact for North Coast Strategies covering 2019–2020.

    Human Rights
    Principle 1: Businesses should support and respect the protection of internationally proclaimed human rights
    Principle 2: Make sure that they are not complicit in human rights abuses.

    Our purpose is to bring people together to start the conversation and solve problems. This includes supporting and respecting the protection of all human rights and ensuring that everyone has a voice.

    As an independent consultancy, we continue to foster a culture and working environment with our clients that respect human rights. This includes creating a culture where people are treated with fairness, honor, courtesy, and respect. We do not tolerate harassment or unfair treatment and we will speak out where we see injustice being made.

    Labour
    Principle 3: Businesses should uphold the freedom of association and the effective recognition of the right to collective bargaining;
    Principle 4: the elimination of all forms of forced and compulsory labour;
    Principle 5: the effective abolition of child labour; and
    Principle 6: the elimination of discrimination in respect of employment and occupation.

    We bring people together to start the conversation and solve problems by finding a seat at the table and sharing stories. Everyone deserves a seat at the table, and everyone deserves to have their voice heard. That is what we have built our business around. We also recognize our obligation to protect our most vulnerable people. That is why North Coast Strategies has made a commitment to make sure our most vulnerable people have a voice and that changes in policies are made. This includes around issues involving behavioral health, children’s mental health, workforce development, and skill-building to help intellectually disabled individuals become more independent.

    As an independent consultancy, we make a conscious effort to work with other independent agencies who share our values, and ensure that employment-related decisions are based on relevant and objective criteria

    Environment
    Principle 7: Businesses should support a precautionary approach to environmental challenges;
    Principle 8: undertake initiatives to promote greater environmental responsibility; and
    Principle 9: encourage the development and diffusion of environmentally friendly technologies.

    We actively seek out opportunities to work with companies dedicated to promoting more sustainable products and a more sustainable future. As an independent consultancy, we also limit our impact on the climate and encourage others to follow our lead.

    Anti-Corruption
    Principle 10: Businesses should work against corruption in all its forms, including extortion and bribery.

    We are all vulnerable and sometimes people make mistakes or get caught off guard. We help lead people through very-difficult situations. We also help others mitigate the risks and take steps to ensure they are working against corruption of all forms. Recognizing our vulnerabilities, we recognize the value of trust and adhere to strong canons of ethics to guide our business and how we work with others.

    We are constantly measuring our progress to meet the principles noted above and we are working to continually improve the integration of the Global Compact and its principles into our business strategy, culture, and daily operations.

    We also commit to sharing this information with our stakeholders using our primary channels of communication and look forward to working with the United Nations and our global partners to meet the challenges and opportunities in the coming year. Please contact me with any questions.
