  • Concordia is committed to providing our employees and customers an incident free workspace and an overall safe environment in all regions where we operate. While still maintaining the high levels of service we provide, we focus heavily on our impact on the environment, and preservation and minimization of factors that could be harmful to the world we live in.

Concordia International Forwarding Corp. specializes in the handling of Hazardous Materials, therefore it is important to us to minimize the exposure of these materials to both our employees and the environment. Each of our worldwide locations are certified to handle HazMat cargo and all employees undergo a certification course prior to ever handling these materials to become fully educated on how to properly do so.

Concordia’s highest level of expertise lies within the practice of Consolidation. Not only do we do this when it comes to International transit, but we start this process while moving the cargo domestically preparing it for its final departure. In the United States, Concordia operates out of six major gateways rather than one central hub allowing for a shorter transit from the customer to the airport of origin.

  • Implementation

  • Concordia has recently modified our TSA screening procedures by retained a certified TSA K-9 Service to screen our cargo. Prior to the use of these highly trained K9s, Concordia employees would need to completely disassemble all pallets to individual screen each package. This would result in the waste of original packaging and would require new packing to re-consolidate the shipment. These dogs are able to screen the pallets while still intact ensuring the transport of safe cargo while significantly reducing the amount of waste that our prior methods incurred. We have introduced this service to three our our warehouse facilities and plan on rolling out to additional as we review our results.

  • Measurement of outcomes
  • Description of how the company monitors and evaluates environmental performance.

  • In our ongoing efforts to reduce GHG and emissions, Concordia has developed a system which requires our local branches to maximize truck loads before they depart to our gateway offices. This reduces the need for multiple trips and in turn reduces labor, fuel, and emissions, making us highly efficient, cost effective, and green conscious. Even more effective in our consolidation efforts is the shipping of the cargo to its final destination. Concordia focuses heavily on freight consolidation rather than shipping loose cargo. The transportation industry is the leading generator of GHG accounting for about 28% according to . By consolidating our cargo, we help to reduce both CO2 emissions and overall air travel by 20 percent.

EcoTransIT is an industry tool which allows Concordia to calculate the CO2 emissions created by the shipments we handle. By utilizing this tool we can come up with the most effective routing of cargo to decrease the CO2 emissions associated with it.
