    It is my honor to confirm that Carroll Properties Corporation reaffirms its support of the Ten Principles of the United Nations Global Compact in the areas of Human Rights, Labor, Environment and Anti-Corruption.

    Our annual Communication on Progress contains the description of our activities directed toward continuous improvement of the process on imbedding the Principles of the Global Compact into our business strategy, culture and operations. We commit to share this information with our stakeholders using our channels of communication.

Human Rights
  • Assessment, policy and goals
  • Description of the relevance of human rights for the company (i.e. human rights risk-assessment). Description of policies, public commitments and company goals on Human Rights.

  • Carroll Properties supports the Universal Declaration of Human Rights in its representations to customers and audiences in the course of its corporate real estate consulting. We have multiple opportunities to share our goals and vision with our clients. As Vice President of the Legislation and Environment Committee of The International Real Estate Federation I introduced an action agenda directed toward Gender Equality. We encourage all qualifying clients to become members of the Global Compact and to adopt the principles.

    We have created a visioning process for community preparation for Foreign Direct Investment that invites Social Responsibility.

  • We continue to present Corporate Social Responsibility initiatives to award positive actions within our avenue of influence. We have set a direction for Gender Issues to be addressed globally.

  • Our Human Rights initiative incorporates educating expanding businesses to exceed the average wage in the area they are pursuing which also allows them to qualify for financial incentives. We share our knowledge on supply chain assessment for potential abuses of Human Rights.

Labour

  • My marketplace is dominated by Right to Work laws, nevertheless, we focus on educating our clients on fair and competitive wages and benefits bringing incentives to the project to support these goals. If prison labor is utilized it is in a spirit of respect and dignity. Child labor is against our local laws and does not seem to be a local issue. Discrimination and respect is a major issue in our state along with domestic violence targeted toward women and children. We participate in communication and the discussions targeted toward diversity.

  • We address employee health and safety by conducting an annual visioning workshop where projections are outlined by each member of the team. We then support one another in successful completing on efforts toward these goals.
    We advise clients on laws and practices that could harm their reputation conducting open discussions on discrimination policies. Our involvement in the international framework is through our participation on the Steering Group creating a Best Practices Toolkit for the Real Estate Industry through the deliberations of the UNGC/RICS initiative.

  • WE are a minority owned company and as such address the challenges of gender on a daily basis. We maintain an awareness of infractions directed toward up but have made every attempt to be oblivious of the implications and focus on the positive agenda we seek in Corporate Consulting.

Environment

  • Our real estate practice was a pioneer in the US EPA Brownfield Initiative. We continue to be active in the implementation of Voluntary Cleanup Efforts when former manufacturing facilities have been abandoned or remain contaminated preventing re-use. We have assembled a team to address and remedy this problems. We also provide consultation to our client base on practices within their process that have the potential to create future environmental issues. We monitor activities closely with a focus on prevention.

  • We have created an Annual Business Checkup (ABC) that reviews all processes and activities our clients implement in order to channel their activities into positive actions that provide advancing technologies and economic benefits without requiring them to report on and clean up after environmental damaging activities. Our focus in clearly on prevention since we are clearly award of the potential cost in fines and clean up.

  • Our services are directed toward corporations that typically could have potential issues. As a service provider operating in an office environment we implement cost recovery activities in house to minimize waste and operate efficiently.

Anti-Corruption

  • Carroll Properties is an established company that has never been involved in corruptive behaviors. We reject requests for kick-backs and have no tolerance for companies that subscribe to bribery and extortion methods. We provide transparent consultation to our clients who are faced with threats which we have found extremely diffusing.

    Real estate is often a front line for money laundering but we assure all financial transactions are accounted for clearly and have never experienced an issue in this area. We also avoid spam invitations to participate in better than life opportunities.

  • President Elizabeth Belenchia has been a UN Representative for the International Real Estate Federation for 11 years and in that role is actively engaged in the global discussion. Locally there has been very little activity to address.

  • All of our real estate transactions require a formal accounting at closing that enforces transparency and thus we do not have to address these issues. In the rare occasion a client shows up with a suitcase of cash we provide receipts for all transactions to all parties.
