Human Rights

The Code of Conduct requires that employers provide a safe, clean and healthy work environment for all employees; give fair pay and time off; and not use forced, compulsory, prison or child labor.

  • Method has implemented our human rights policy by raising human rights and labor policy questions during the process of evaluating all new suppliers or contract manufacturers.

  • Method monitors performance by visiting 3rd party manufacturing facilities and surveying the operating conditions. Through our Cradle to Cradle certification, our assessors audit all of our 3rd party manufacturing facilities and check our ingredient suppliers through the Social Hotspots Database.

Labour

  • Method is committed to developing and manufacturing products that use only materials that have been selected (using a precautionary perspective) to be safe for people and the environment. Our products are manufactured in environmentally responsible ways, tracking emissions of water and material waste and ensuring energy efficient production.

  • Implementation
  • Description of concrete actions to implement environmental policies, address environmental risks and respond to environmental incidents.

  • We use material evaluation tools to select safe formulation ingredients and rely on a rapid life cycle assessment tool to choose low-carbon packaging designs. All of our ingredients are assessed by a third party—McDonough Braungart Design Chemistry—for environmental and human safety, and all of our products are Cradle to Cradle certified.

  • We track our Scope 1, 2 and 3 carbon emissions annually, and all contract manufacturers report monthly the water, energy and material waste rates incurred in manufacturing our products. All of this information is reported through the Cradle to Cradle certification process.
