Making Global Goals Local Business Week

This July, the UN Global Compact invites business leaders from around the world to join us for Making Global Goals Local Business Week in New York. We know that the only way to truly make the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) a reality by 2030 is to focus on collaboration and impact on the ground. By taking conversations from the global to the national level, Making Global Goals Local Business Week will focus on how global strategies translate into local solutions to help achieve the SDGs. Organized alongside the UN High-level Political Forum (HLPF) — the United Nations platform for annual multi-stakeholder discussions on national SDG progress — Making Global Goals Local Business Week is the opportunity for business leaders to showcase national and local contributions to the SDGs at the UN in 2019.

Making Global Goals Local Business Week is the only UN Global Compact convening that brings together representatives from all 70 Global Compact Local Networks around the world, alongside the Global Compact Expert Network, UN Resident Coordinators and other global leaders from civil society, Government and the UN, making it the single largest opportunity to foster new connections for on the ground partnerships.

How can business engage further at the HLPF?

Every year, the UN Global Compact creates a Business Guide to the High-Level Political Forum: a calendar of events relevant to the private sector. Many different events are organized in and around HLPF with a business focus or that welcome private sector participation. Some are organized by United Nations entities, while many others are convened by outside organizations. The guide is a compilation of events which may be of interest to companies.
