Private Sector Forum 2019

Overview

Convened annually by the UN Secretary-General during General Assembly week, the Private Sector Forum is a high-level networking opportunity designed to bring the voice of the private sector to inter-governmental debates on key topics, and nurture partnerships to achieve the 2030 Agenda.

As the official luncheon of Secretary-General António Guterres' Climate Action Summit, this year’s Forum will bring together more than 350 Heads of State, CEOs, UN Agencies and young entrepreneurs to accelerate ambitious climate action and urgently work to deliver on the Paris Agreement.

Organized by the UN Global Compact in close cooperation with UN partners, this historic event will foster intergenerational dialogue to mobilize resources, scale innovation and celebrate climate transformative commitments from the world’s foremost leaders. The Forum will showcase the setting of 1.5˚C targets through the Science Based Targets initiative, support mitigation and adaption policies created through public-private partnerships and feature other strategies to support a just transition to net zero carbon emissions by 2050.

Participation in the Private Sector Forum is strictly by invitation only.

Apart from the Private Sector Forum, UN Global Compact is hosting a morning session "Transformative Business Leadership for a 1.5˚C Future” and a Climate Action Reception in the evening on September 23. Please refer to the Leaders Week schedule for more details on all three events.
