UN High-Level Political Forum

Overview

The High-Level Political Forum (HLPF) is the central multi-stakeholder mechanism established by the United Nations for follow-up and review of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and the Sustainable Development Goals. The theme for 2017 for the HLPF will be “Eradicating poverty and promoting prosperity in a changing world”.  Additionally, a set of seven goals will be reviewed in depth:

How can business engage at the HLPF?

The UN Global Compact has created a Business Guide to the UN High-Level Political Forum to help companies engage in the events that provide opportunities for the private sector to share its perspectives with other stakeholders and showcase efforts towards the 2030 Agenda.

During the HLPF the UN Global Compact, together with partners ICC and UNDESA, will convene the SDG Business Forum, a platform for business to interact in dialogue with other stakeholders, share the private sector’s perspectives and showcase the efforts carried out in support of the 2030 agenda and the SDGs. This year the Forum will take place on 18 July, 2017 at UN Headquarters. Learn more.

The UN Global Compact will showcase examples and solutions on how businesses are aligning their business models with the SDGs, in addition to resources for companies to report on their SDG impact, at the side event The Role of Business at the Local Level: Innovation and multi-stake action to advance the 2030 Agenda. Also, our Global Compact Local Networks – as key players in the implementation of the SDGs, are gathering information on how business is carrying efforts and engaging in multi-stakeholder dialogues and partnerships around the goals to align with national plans on the SDGs and contribute to the definition of national SDG indicators.
