Communicating Progress in Implementing the Global Compact Principles

  • P. Brabeck-Letmathe, the Chief Executive Officer of Nestlé, mentions on the company’s website that Nestlé firmly supports the principles of the United Nations Global Compact and is committed to reflecting these in its business principles and practices.

    The company has laid down clear principles of corporate behaviour - the Nestlé Corporate Business Principles. These Corporate Business Principles - upheld throughout the company’s operations - are consistent with the principles of the Global Compact. The Nestlé Corporate Business Principles address the following issues: Human Rights (pg. 9); Child Labour (pg. 12); Protection of the Environment (pg. 15); The Nestlé Water Policy (pg. 17).     In addition, Nestlé has become a global partner of the United Nations High Commissioner on Refugees, providing technical expertise and financial support to create a sustainable water system in Eastern Ethiopia. This project brings clean drinking water to over 200,000 people affected by the severe drought impacting the country. It also promotes the Global Compact principles on human rights, specifically in relation to the right to clean drinking water.

Brabeck-Letmathe the CEO of Nestlé mentions: “Given the growing public interest in the area of corporate social responsibility, we openly share these Principles, not only with all our employees, but also with anyone in the public who is interested in understanding the Principles on which this Company is based.”
