Electrolux communicates on sustainability with its stakeholders through the Annual Report and Sustainability Report, as well as the Electrolux.com website and direct dialogue. The 2005 Annual Report includes the section Sustainability which covers Environmental Activities (pp 103-107) and Social Responsibility (pp 107-108), including a statement on the Global Compact (page 103).
The Electrolux Sustainability Report addresses economic, environmental and social issues. The report contains three distinct sections Our world, Our approach and Our metrics. The first part of the report takes up how Electrolux addresses key issues facing our industry globalization, legislation and key environmental and social issues in the world today. The second part, Our approach, looks at how Electrolux has woven the concept of sustainability into the way the company works and into the company brand. The latter, Our metrics, provides the reports backbone in the form of tables and statistics reflecting company performance for 2005. A statement of support for the principles of the Global Compact is made on page 13 of the Report.
The report makes reference to the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI). A GRI matrix is available at the Electrolux website (http://www.electrolux.com/Files/Sustainability/PDFs/GRI_Indicator_Index_2006_060428.pdf) The matrix outlines where specific GRI reporting elements and core indicators are addressed in our 2005 Annual report, 2005 Sustainability report and the Form 20-filed with the US SEC and on the Electrolux website. Where relevant, references are made to the corresponding Global Compact principles.
The Electrolux Workplace Code of Conduct defines minimum acceptable work standards for all people involved in the manufacturing and sale of Electrolux products, in all countries, business sectors and occupations. The Code is in line with the nine original principles of the Global Compact and, thus, through the implementation and dissemination of the Code, the Group is actively working with the principles of the Compact. This work is described in the Annual and Sustainability report.
Electrolux has adopted an Electrolux policy on Countering Bribery and Corruption and expressed its support for the tenth principle of the Compact in respect to anti-corruption.
In 2005, Electrolux continued to engage in discussions with a number of important stakeholders: government representatives, NGOs, trade unions, employees, investors, analysts etc. Electrolux will continue to communicate on progress through reports, website, press releases and direct dialogue.
