  • I am pleased to confirm that Kopenhagen Fur reaffirms its support of the Ten Principles of the United Nations Global Compact in the areas of Human Rigths, Labour, Environment and Anti-Corruption.

    In this annual Communication on Progress we describe our actions to continually improve the integration of the Global Compact and its principles into our business strategy, culture and daily operations. We also commit to share this information with our stakeholders using our primary channels of communication.

    In the coming period of 2014/15 we will have a continued focus on securing and adjusting the actions previously taken on the four areas (Human Rigths, Labour, Environment and Anti-Corruption) within the company as well as having a continued outwards look and helping our customers and partners to improve on these areas. This will be done by a continued sharing of knowledge with customers and partners.

Human Rights
  • Assessment, policy and goals

  • At Kopenhagen Fur we adhere to the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. Moreover, we have established some core values that underline the company's devotion to the Human Rights principles.

  • Implementation
  • Description of concrete actions to implement Human Rights policies, address Human Rights risks and respond to Human Rights violations.

  • At Kopenhagen Fur we have a full set of policies regarding Human Rights policies. These include e.g. policies regarding stress, pregnancy, illness, consistent repeated work, health etc. We have volunteer groups consisting of both management and employees attending to improve these policies continuously.

  • Kopenhagen Fur is ISO 2000 certified and adheres to all the requirements regarding this certification. We have periodical internal and external audits ensuring that the requirements are continuously lived up to.

Labour

  • Kopenhagen Fur has received a work environment certification by ISO, and we have a strong focus on ensuring the best possible work environment and conditions for our employees. Our internal code of conduct, for example, not only includes the right to assemble professionally and socially but encourages it.

  • Implementation
  • Description of concrete actions taken by the company to implement labour policies, address labour risks and respond to labour violations.

  • In 2012-13, Kopenhagen Fur underwent a larger process, focusing on improving both labour conditions and efficiency in the production section. This was carried out through internal analysis and with the involvement and education of the employees. The new labour routines have, with the help of an active employee involvement, been fully integrated, resulting in a better work environment and production efficiency. In 2014-15, Kopenhagen Fur will continue to focus on labour conditions and encourage employees to report any ideas they have to improve the work environment of the company.

  • Kopenhagen Fur is continuously audited, internally and externally, on its progress on its work environment certification. In the past year, there have been hardly any remarks. As part of the actions taken to live up to the ISO certification, Kopenhagen Fur registers all accidents and 'almost-accients'. This has ensured a stronger focus on possible problem areas, which has led to a reduction in incidences in recent years.

Environment

  • Kopenhagen Fur recognises that protection of the environment is becoming increasingly important in our world today and such actions should be implemented in our daily business. We also want to share our knowledge, and have resolved to help our partners be more environmentally responsible.

  • Implementation
  • Description of concrete actions to implement environmental policies, address environmental risks and respond to environmental incidents.

  • The findings of the earlier energy analysis have been implemented throughout the company in the past year. It is an ongoing process, and still more actions to reduce energy consumption are to be implemented in 2014-15. In addition, by using graphic charts and clear information on our internal website, we hope to encourage our employees to take small personal actions that will result in a continuous reduction of the company's energy consumption per skin.

  • Energy consumption is continuously measured and possible waste located through the energy analysis system. Energy consumption per skin will be evaluated thoroughly to ensure improvements.

Anti-Corruption

  • Kopenhagen Fur is an auction house which adheres to the strongest anti-corrution principle of them all – transparency. All elements of the trade are completely transparent to everyone. The transparency principle means that no customers or suppliers are treated differently than others, thus reducing the element of corruption greatly.

  • Implementation
  • Description of concrete actions to implement anti-corruption policies, address anti-corruption risks and respond to incidents.

  • The principle of transparency is one of the most important elements of Kopenhagen Fur's core values. To ensure that these values are constantly met all new employees are educated in the principle – both specifically for their own area of expertise but also for the entire company.
    On top of this Kopenhagen Fur host courses for hundreds of suppliers/ farmers and customers every year where the fundamentals of this principle are also repeated.

  • The transparency principle means that Kopenhagen Fur has not experienced any cases of corruption within the last decades. To ensure that no corruption should take place anyway the company has ensured a steadfast zero-tolerance policy on bribe.
