  • I am pleased to confirm that Al Safa Transport LLC supports the Ten Principles of the United Nations Global Compact on human rights, labour environment and anti - corruption.
    In this annual communication on Progress, we describe our actions to continually improve the integration of the Global Compact and its principles into our business strategy, culture and daily operations. We also commit to sharing this information with our stake holders using our primary channels of communication.

Human Rights
  • Assessment, policy and goals
  • Description of the relevance of human rights for the company (i.e. human rights risk-assessment). Description of policies, public commitments and company goals on Human Rights.

  • • We have ensured that the facilities offered to workers in their dormitories are clean, safe and suitable for living.
    • Free Wifi internet connection is provided. Mattresses are provided when required to upgrade.
    • Regular engagement sessions undertaken by the CEO himself with the workers to listen to address any concerns or feedback.

  • Implementation
  • Description of concrete actions to implement Human Rights policies, address Human Rights risks and respond to Human Rights violations.

  • • Pest control cleanliness done twice yearly.
    • Workers rest room and working conditions inspections undertaken multiple times weekly by the CEO himself.

    Monthly workers committee sessions, and regular engagement with workers by management.

Labour

  • • As a SEDEX SMETA 4 PILLAR’S audited and verified company, Al Safa Transport highly values its workers and their well being and their feedbacks.
    • Monthly documented Workers participation committee sessions are done, where workers feedback is recorded, and acted upon as necessary.
    • Open door company joining and leaving policy is implemented.
    The company Labor policy is communicated in multiple languages to the workers and posted in their dormitory also.

    - All hiring and termination of any employee's service done on merit and performance basis.

Environment

  • • Water recycling system in place for the truck wash system we use.
    • Paper / Plastic recycling bins in place ensuring all terminal paper / cardboard and plastic bottles / aluminum cans are passed for recycling.
    • Used oil / tyres and batteries passed to authorized scrap collectors for recycling.
    • Minimum waste to landfill policy in place. General waste garbage collection done only each Friday by Averda waste Management Company.

  • Implementation

  • • Just signed off on implementation of solar power installation on roof tops, to cover full terminal electricity needs.
    Diesel tank in facility with safety wall around it.

  • Electricity and water consumption monitored monthly, and evaluated with set KPI's.

Anti-Corruption

  • • We do due diligence when doing business with any partner, and deal only with reputed suppliers and business partners.
    • The company policy on anti-corruption is posted on the website, and dormitories also.
    • All contracts with business partners have anti-corruption clauses, and whistle blower clauses also in some.
    • Internally reward scheme in place on reporting bad practices.
