    To our stakeholders,

    I am very pleased to write that Danfe Works Enterprises Nepal for the past three years have been working to support the livelihood of marginalized women along with expanding the business to create financial sustainability. Our enterprise also reaffirms its support of the Ten Principles of United Nations Global Compact in the areas of Human Rights (Respecting the protecting human rights), Labor (Fair Wages, anti discriminatory), Environment (moving towards do no harm concept, managing waste, more natural and sustainable production) and Anti Corruption (against all form of corruption). As a social business we have laid the ten principles as the foundation to design the business strategy and in execution.

Human Rights
  • Assessment, policy and goals
  • Description of the relevance of human rights for the company (i.e. human rights risk-assessment). Description of policies, public commitments and company goals on Human Rights.

  • Danfe Works Enterprises Nepal supports the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. We aspire to empower and promote social, economic and political inclusiveness irrespective of age, sex, disability, race, ethnicity, religion, economic status or other status. Gender balance and non-discrimination has always been one of our core values and has been always prioritized in our enterprise setup. We adopt non-discriminatory polices to reduce inequality.

  • Implementation

  • Conduct workshops on Human Rights and other related issues, have a proper system in place to identify, report if any occurrence of violence. And we do have suggestion box in place to collect any recommendation or complaints

  • The HR manager handles any issues related to incidents of Human Rights.
    Regular review in team meeting is also taken into consideration.

Labour
  • Assessment, policy and goals

  • Issues concerning fair wage, ethical business is always out priority and at core of our business.
    We also aim to abide by development oriented policies of Nepal which are related to women empowerment, labor and child labor. Any form of child labor does not take place in any of our working units. All the employees are above 17 years. We are committed to abiding by the International Labor Organization (ILO) Minimum Age for Employment Convention No. 138 and Nepal’s Child Labor Prohibition and Regulation Act 2006/2062. We are also committed to following Nepal’s Labor Act 2017/2074. We constitute to ensure safe working environment according to Section 74 of the act and working hours according to Section 28. In case of sexual harassment, as per section 132, the service may be terminated on the basis of the seriousness of the offense.

  • Yearly Appraisals, record keeping of all employees. Annual audit is carried out.

Environment

  • Description of the relevance of environmental protection for the company (i.e. environmental risks and opportunities). Description of policies, public commitments and company goals on environmental protection.

  • As stated Fashion industry is regarded as second largest polluter in the world. Keeping this in Danfe Works as a growing business is very mindful of the consumption and production cycle. We are not 100% there yet, but we are conscious business.
    Environment Sustainability is at core at Danfe Works, it is also included in our strategic planning
    As for the upcoming year, we will increase the consumption of natural fabrics

  • We are accountable towards conscious consumerism and sustainable production practices. Taking environmental impact into consideration, waste management practices are followed from the initial training to production unit by segregating different waste for recycle or reuse.
    “Zero Waste Management”, a concept supporting environmental conservation has also been promoted during both training and the enterprise. Danfe foresees to incorporate the concept of Zero Waste Management in order to improve local environment.

  • Indicators, targets are mentioned in yearly reports.
    We are trying to document our consumption in yearly basis, also keeping track of the wastes produced and how it was recycled. The staffs, beneficiaries are trained and well informed about waste management.

Anti-Corruption
