    To our stakeholders:

    I am pleased to confirm that Maritime Craft Services (Clyde) Ltd reaffirms its support of the Ten Principles of the United Nations Global Compact in the areas of Human Rights, Labour, Environment and Anti-Corruption.

    In this annual Communication on Progress, we describe our actions to continually improve the integration of the Global Compact and its principles into our business strategy, culture and daily operations. We also commit to share this information with our stakeholders using our primary channels of communication.

Human Rights
  • Assessment, policy and goals
  • Description of the relevance of human rights for the company (i.e. human rights risk-assessment). Description of policies, public commitments and company goals on Human Rights.

  • MCS actively supports the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and we are committed to ensuring that all employees are treated with respect and treated fairly. We will not tolerate victimisation, bullying or harassment in the workplace.

  • Implementation
  • Description of concrete actions to implement Human Rights policies, address Human Rights risks and respond to Human Rights violations.

  • We have recently introduced an equal opportunities policy and our grievance procedure remains in place. We continue to adhere to the Maritime Labour Convention (2006) which ensures that all seafarers have access to an on-board complaints procedure.

  • MCS has not been subject to any legal cases or incidents involving human rights.

Labour
  • Assessment, policy and goals
  • Description of the relevance of labour rights for the company (i.e. labour rights-related risks and opportunities). Description of written policies, public commitments and company goals on labour rights.

  • MCS continues to support the ILO Core Conventions and will not do business with any organisation who uses forced or child labour. We ensure that recruitment agencies that we work with are MLC certified and require that they are ISO 9001 certified too. All employees receive a written statement of terms and conditions which clearly details compensation, benefits etc.

  • We have introduced a WISH card system to allow all employees to suggest health & safety improvements. We continue to comply with MLC 2006 and require the recruitment agencies we work with to submit their certification to us.

  • Submission of WISH cards - system is operating well and a small prize is awarded for the best suggestion.

    100% adherence of recruitment agencies to MLC certification.

Environment

  • We maintain our ISO 14001 environmental management certification and have an environmental policy in place which is reviewed regularly. We undergo internal and external audits for this certification.
    We continue to encourage staff to car share, and our cycle to work scheme remains in place.
    We now monitor and review our carbon footprint.

  • We have achieved ISO 14001 certification now and undergo audits to ensure that we comply.
    We have introduced a whistle blowing policy to allow employees to report any breaches.

Anti-Corruption

  • MCS is compliant with the bribery act and does not participate in any corruption, bribery or extortion. We support the UN Convention Against Corruption and do not operate with organisations who are corrupt.

  • We have implemented a number of new policies in order to support our anti-bribery position, these include: Corporate Social Responsibility Policy, Anti-bribery & Corruption Policy and a Whistleblowing Policy.

    MCS annual accounts continue to be audited annually by external accountants and submitted to Companies House.

    MCS has not been involved in any legal cases, rulings etc related to bribery or corruption.
