    With this letter I would like in confirm that Cosmos Aluminium reaffirms its support of the Ten Principles of the United Nations Global in the areas of human rights, labour, environment and anti-corruption.
    We strongly believe that these principles are a compass for the future not only for the organizations but also for the entire humanity.
    In this annual Communication on Progress report , we describe our actions to continually improve the integration of the Global Compact and its principles into our business strategy, culture and daily operations. We also commit to share this information with our stakeholders using our primary channels of communication.

Human Rights
  • Assessment, policy and goals
  • Description of the relevance of human rights for the company (i.e. human rights risk-assessment). Description of policies, public commitments and company goals on Human Rights.

  • Cosmos Aluminium supports the principles stated in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.
    All of our employees aspired by the same principles which are communicated in our core value statement.
    Health and safety is a top priority for our company and all of our operations are certified by the OHSAS 18001 certification, moreover the Labour relations for the total of our employees comply with the Greek Law and of course with the European Union directives.
    Internal Code:

    All of our employees may not be complicit with any human rights abuse. The same we ask for our business associates.
    Any employee who detects a potential Human Rights abuse should report it directly to the Human Resources Department of the company. This is done without revealing the source of the information.
    Assessment of Human Rights Risk:

    The Human Rights Risk is very low, given the size of our company. But always our Human resource department has a close eye in this particular matter.

    Goals:
    To maintain the zero abuse record we have from the beginning of our operations.

  • Implementation

  • We implement an anonymous reporting system where the employees can report anonymous any violation of Human Rights. The report goes directly to the top management and after that to the human resources department which is accountable to execute the company policies for these matters.
    If an abuse is proven (after an examination) may result to the termination of the labour contract of the employee. In case of an business associate the business relation is terminated from the very next moment and our partner is banned from our approved suppliers list for ever.

Labour

  • Cosmos Aluminium working environment is certified both by ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 international standards.
    The working environment is a top priority of upper management team of the company and the word “individual” is deep embedded to our company culture and code of ethics.

  • We have designed and implement job rotation programs, regular recreation activities, and special seminars designed for each one of us.
    A doctor pays regular visit to our premises in which we have constructed a fully equipped consulting room.
    Moreover we have created the Cosmos Aluminium Health & Safety Team. This team consisting of employees from all the departments, has as major to ask to investigate any problem and to propose solutions to top management as far the labour matters concerns.

  • Cosmos Aluminum is regularly audited by external organization as far its working environment.
    Also we keep a record of all “almost accidents” or “accidents” which is helping as to focus on actions that will prevent them.

Environment

  • In Cosmos Aluminium environmental issues are in the everyday agenda of discussion.
    “For everyone in Cosmos Aluminium, environment is a valuable asset which must be passed on to the next generations. For that reason, we are trying to assure that all our actions and activities are based on energy saving, recycling and the least possible amount of emissions.”
    The above is one of our company values and is not just a statement is an everyday diligence for a cleaner and healthier environment

  • We’ve spend substantial resources trying to make all of our operation more energy efficient, also in our future plans is to install photovoltaic panels in our roof.

    For 2011 all of our indicators showing a substantial drop-off.

Anti-Corruption

  • Cosmos Aluminium is not faces a high risk of corruption given the size of the company, the centralized management and the market that is operating.

  • Moreover in order to avoid any kind of corruption problems Cosmos Aluminium follow a strict zero-tolerance policy for corruption and bribery with effect both in our employees and our business partners.
    We carefully select our business partners through clean and transparent competitive bidding process encouraging competitiveness ad clearness.
