New Framework Highlights Options of Collaboration Between Business and UN

(New York, 24 September 2008) – The UN Global Compact Office launched a new Framework for Business Engagement with the United Nations today, outlining different ways in which the private sector can collaborate with UN agencies, funds and programmes to address global challenges. The launch took place on the occasion of the first UN Private Sector Forum on the Millennium Development Goals and Food Sustainability.

Developed by Dr. Jane Nelson, Director of the Corporate Social Responsibility Initiative at Harvard University’s Kennedy School of Government, the framework describes how business can make an effective contribution to UN goals: through their core business operations, through social investments and philanthropy, and through advocacy, policy dialogue and institutional frameworks.
