On 21 October, the Global Compact and the European Foundation for Management Development (efmd) announced the signing of a partnership agreement aimed at promoting more responsible business practices through learning and education. Under the agreement, efmd will be European partner to the Global Compact in relation to learning and education.
"Our vision is to foster a new generation of globally responsible business leaders," said Georg Kell, Executive Head of the UN Global Compact, and Gerard Van Schaik, Chairman of efmd. "We will gradually develop the curricula of business schools to raise awareness and to truly reflect global challenges."
Prof. Eric Cornuel, the Director General & CEO of efmd, stressed that the partnership will prove itself through action. efmd has launched an executive Global Responsibility task force to speed up development, which will be headed by Dr. Anders Aspling. "We aim at influencing higher business education and management development – in pursuit of developing globally responsible leaders and managers for the organisations of today and tomorrow. We will invite champion schools and companies to set up and try out new standards for what a globally responsible business leader actually is and how he or she can surpass expectations," said Prof. Cornuel.
The European Foundation for Management Development is an international, membership driven organization, based in Brussels. With more than 470 member organizations from academia, business, public service and consultancy in 45 countries across the world, efmd plays a central role in shaping an international approach to management education.
