(Mexico City, 18 June 2014) – The PRME Chapter for Latin America and the Caribbean (LAC) became formally established during the 3rd PRME Regional Meeting LAC (17-18 June), at Egade Business School in Mexico City. The new PRME Chapter LAC was first proposed during the 1st PRME Regional Meeting LAC in 2011 in Argentina and was launched in 2013 at the 2nd PRME Regional Meeting LAC in Lima, Peru.
The conference at Egade Business School – hosted by Global Compact Network Mexico – brought together nearly 125 participants for two days of productive discussions and networking. Prominent speakers from business schools, the private sector and Government provided an overview of the current challenges and opportunities around sustainable development, humanistic approaches to education, climate change, and the implementation of responsible management education in business schools. The PRME community in LAC was able to reflect together, share experiences and learn from each other, while strengthening ongoing partnerships.
As part of the meeting, PRME signatories in attendance signed a declaration regarding the formal establishment of the PRME Chapter LAC, outlining the core value proposition and several key activities to be undertaken by the new chapter, including:
In addition, it was agreed that the 4th PRME Regional Meeting LAC will take place at Universidad Externado in Bogota, Colombia in 2015.
