The Global Compact Network Portugal was officially launched on December 9, 2009 on the International Day against Corruption, during an event organized by Global Compact participants in partnership with local Government and NGOs.

The majority of Network participants are from the private sector however the Network also consists of stakeholders from civil society, business associations, universities and municipal companies.
GCN Portugal has a Steering Committee called the Coordination Commission constituted by the following UNGC participants: APEE, Addeco and Xerox.

The Global Compact Network Portugal organizes one Annual General Meeting, with the steering committee meeting more frequently in it’s capacity as the executive body of the Network.

The main objectives of the GCLN Portugal are the observance of the Ten Principles and the dissemination of the initiative’s vision and mission among all the stakeholders through regular activities in Portugal and the promotion of business action in support of the Millennium Development Goals.
