Chaired by Sir Mark Moody-Stuart, the Expert Group Meeting of 2011 brought together over 70 representatives from companies, investors, civil society and others organizations on 17 May 2011 in Copenhagen. Hosted by the Global Compact Office and the Principles for Responsible Investment (PRI) Initiative, the meeting offered the experts the opportunity to share experiences and engage on a range of issues on business and peace.
Participants discussed key topics including the role of the Global Compact Local Networks in promoting the implementation of responsible business practices in areas of conflict as well as how companies and investors can best translate the "Guidance on Responsible Business and Investment in conflict-affected and high-risk areas" into reality. A noteworthy session focused on the Middle East served to explore how companies and investors can ensure that they are responsible when operating in such environments. Finally, recently developed tools and initiatives were presented and discussed by the participants.
