LEAD is an exclusive group of corporate sustainability leaders from across all regions and sectors that represent the cutting edge of the UN Global Compact. Through action-oriented collaboration, LEAD:

  • Challenges and supports leading companies in achieving the full and effective integration of sustainability into core business and operations.
  • Provides leadership, inspiration and examples of good practices to the broader universe of UN Global Compact participants and Local Networks.
  • Leverages the UN Global Compact’s unique position to provide responsible business leaders with the opportunity to help shape the ever-evolving expectations of corporate sustainability.
  • Strengthens the drivers for corporate sustainability through proactive engagement with investors, business schools, governments, NGOs and other key stakeholders.

Global Compact LEAD was launched by the UN Secretary General Ban Ki-Moon at the World Economic Forum in Davos in January 2011. The platform is designed to challenge highly engaged companies in the UN Global Compact to reach further, to experiment, to innovate, and to share learnings. Companies in LEAD commit to implement the Blueprint for Corporate Sustainability Leadership and to leading new efforts to raise sustainability performance within their own organizations and beyond.
