GLOBAL COMPACT LAUNCH IN BANGLADESH

The Bangladesh Enterprise Institute (BEI) and CSR Centre in partnership with the UN Global Compact Office and UNDP Bangladesh are organizing a formal Launching Ceremony of the United Nations Global Compact (UNGC) Bangladesh Network on 26 January. The launching ceremony will be followed by a Roundtable Discussion on the United Nations Global Compact for Business Leaders. On 27 January a Capacity Building Programme on UNGC Communications on Progress (COP) and the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) will be organized.

VII ANNUAL LOCAL NETWORKS FORUM

The Global Compact will convene the VII Annual Local Networks Forum on the 9-10 June 2009 in Istanbul, Turkey.  In addition to providing Network participants with the opportunity to share experiences in their efforts to advance the Global Compact at the local level, this years Forum will also seek a stronger alignment between the Networks and the Global Compact issue areas. Therefore, we expect to have increased participation from GC participating organizations that have a keen interest to share and learn from each other with respect to the implementation of the Global Compact and its principles.
