Global Compact Logo
Use by participants of the "We Support the Global Compact" logo is encouraged as a way
to promote their commitment to the initiative and raise awareness of the UN Global Compact.
It can be used, for example, on corporate websites and pertinent printed materials. Please
note, however, that every use of a UN Global Compact logo, except the contextualized version of the
logo for use in COPs, requires permission in advance from the UN Global Compact Office. The
version of the We Support logo for use in a participant's COP may be downloaded and used in a COP
without prior permission. Participants can request the use of a Global Compact logo using the
online logo request. We invite you to become familiar with the
Global Compact Logo Policy
and the Frequently Asked Questions below before
requesting permission to use a Global Compact logo.
If you have been authorized to use either the Global Compact logo or the We Support logo on
your website, we kindly invite you to link the logo to the Global Compact's own website:
http://www.unglobalcompact.org.
Frequently Asked Questions
How can I request the Global Compact logo?
How can I seek approval for use of a UN Global Compact logo?
To seek approval for use of a UN Global Compact logo:
- Login to the
participant administration section of the UN
Global Compact website using your organization’s username and password. Please note that support on
the retrieval or (re)creation of login information is available via the Participant Administration
section.
- Go to the “Submissions” tab and select “Logo Request”.
- Complete the request form and upload a sample of the desired use.
- Await a response from the UN Global Compact Office, which will typically take no more than
three days.
What does the Global Compact Office consider when reviewing a request?
The Global Compact Office looks at :
- The accuracy of any information provided about the Global Compact in the material;
- Whether the colour and layout of the logo meets the Global Compact Logo Policy. See
Global Compact Logo Policy -
4 Rules Governing the Reproduction and Display of the Logos and the
Design
Guidelines Manual (pdf).
- Whether the placement of the logo in the material would incorrectly imply any kind of
endorsement by the Global Compact Office or that the Global Compact Office was the source of the
material.
How long does it take to process my logo request?
It normally takes a maximum of 2-3 business days. However, at busy times, such as when
there is a major Global Compact event upcoming, it could take up to 7 business days.
Am I eligible to use the Global Compact logo?
My company/organization is a participant in the Global Compact. Do we need to request
permission to use the Global Compact logo?
According to the
Global Compact Logo Policy, every use of a Global Compact logo requires
permission in advance from the Global Compact Office. Seeking approval is simple and can be done
via the
online logo request.
A special contextualized version of the We Support logo has been introduced for use by
participants in their COP without prior permission from the Global Compact Office. Use of
this logo is optional. This logo can be downloaded at the
Global Compact Logo
Policy page.
Permission is still required for all other use of the Global Compact logos, including in the
context of a participant's COP.
My company/organization has been given permission to use the We Support the Global Compact logo
in our website. Can we also use the logo in our company brochure?
Permission in advance is required in advance for each distinct use of a Global Compact
logo. This is because the Global Compact Office needs to review each intended use for its
layout and context. The Global Compact Office also records each approval. Therefore,
even organizations that have already received permission for a use in the past, should make a new
request for other distinct uses of the same logo. More than one approval can be sought in the
same request. Seeking approval is simple and can be done via the
online logo request.
Reprinting of a document containing a Global Compact logo does not require seeking new
permission if the previous use had been approved. Similarly, for documents that use the same
template, such as a presentation, permission can be sought for the master copy, and approval, if
given, will be valid for all versions produced using that template.
I am not from a Global Compact participating company/organization. Can I use a Global
Compact logo?
Generally, only Global Compact participants and stakeholders are given permission to use a
Global Compact logo. However, exceptions can be made in appropriate circumstances where the
use is consistent with the mission of the Global Compact. Please submit a sample of the
material with your request to gclogo@un.org. Please also indicate where the logo would
appear, the purpose of the material, its target audience, projected date of its release, etc.
I want to insert the Global Compact logo in my class paper/class presentation/thesis/class
material etc. Can I use the Global Compact logo?
Uses of a Global Compact logo in an
academic context where the document in question containing the logo will not be published do not
require permission of the Global Compact Office. Such uses should make clear, however, that
the appearance of the logo does not constitute an endorsement by the Global Compact of the
paper/presentation/thesis/class material. If the material will be published, permission of
the Global Compact Office is required.
In what way should I use the Global Compact logo?
In what contexts could I be given permission to use a Global Compact logo?
Requests to use a Global Compact logo are mostly for use on participants' homepages, reports,
brochures, and newsletters. However, other uses are also possible. We have received
requests to use a Global Compact logo on signage, on products, on leaflets inside product
packaging, on letterhead and business cards. Creativity is welcome.
What Global Compact logos exist?
There are four different kinds of Global Compact logos: the regular Global
Compact logo with logotype, the regular Global Compact logo, the endorser (We Support) logo, and
Local Network logos. The We Support the Global Compact logo has been the logo most often
approved for use by Global Compact participants. A special contextualized version of the We
Support logo has been developed for use, without advance permission, in participants' COPs.
In exceptional circumstances, such as where the Global Compact Office is directly involved in the
activities described in the material, permission to use the regular Global Compact logo may be
given.
