5th Supply Chain Sustainability Advisory Group Meeting |

Members of the Global Compact Advisory Group on supply chain sustainability will gather to discuss ongoing work and determine a strategy for the next phase of the workstream. An open session will be held on the afternoon of 24 January where local network companies and other key stakeholders will be invited to participate to share their experiences with the group; spaces for this open session are limited. The meeting will be hosted by Reed Elsevier at their New York office.

Business Perspective on Sustainable Growth: Preparing for Rio+20 |

Collective Action: Launch Workshop |

Initiated in January 2011, the collective action project in India has raised awareness within the business community of the important role that companies can play in promoting anti-corruption issues. In 2012, the project will officially launch during the GCN National Convention. Corporate anti-corruption efforts will be showcased and discussions will be held on how to advance notable practices through collective action.

Breaking New Ground: Partnerships for More and Better Jobs for Young People |

Through interactive dialogues, the event will seek to strengthen partnerships between government, the private sector and the philanthropic community to advance youth employment and decent work. Discussions will explore policies and other innovations that promote youth employment, with the aim of contributing to the UN Economic and Social Council’s High-level session on the topic in July. Gender Equality for Sustainable Business: 4th Annual Women’s Empowerment Principles Event |

Companies that have signed the CEO Statement of Support for the Women’s Empowerment Principles, as well as other businesses and stakeholders, will convene to discuss how corporate behaviour and practices are being transformed to align with the WEPs. As in previous years, participants will share their experiences in implementing the WEPs, including best practices, challenges and lessons-learned. The meeting will also provide an opportunity for discussion on key topics and themes, including how gender equality fits into the agendas of corporate sustainability and sustainable development. Participation at this event is by invitation only. Priority will be given to companies that have signed the CEO Statement of Support for the Women’s Empowerment Principles. |
Children’s Rights and Business Principles: Global Release |

The Global Compact, UNICEF and Save the Children will present the landmark Children’s Rights and Business Principles. The event will bring together leading companies and experts to generate discussion and showcase examples of how business can respect and support children’s rights in their core operations. These will be the first comprehensive set of principles to guide companies on the range of actions they can take in the workplace, marketplace and community to respect and support children’s rights. Many business leaders, civil society representatives and children across the globe actively participated in shaping the Principles. This event is by invitation only. |
