First Meeting of Global Compact Regional Support Hubs Results in Collaborative Project
(Barcelona, 6 October 2009
) – For the first time, UN Global Compact Regional Support Hubs
gathered together to discuss coordination and collaboration. On 5-6 October, representatives from
the Asia and Latin America hubs, as well as the Barcelona Center for the Support of the Global
Compact and the Global Compact Office, met in Barcelona where they provided updates on activities,
outlined planned work and identified opportunities to improve coordination.
As a key outcome, the group agreed to pool their resources and collaborate on the development
of a training package for Global Compact Local Networks. The training package will be launched at
the next Annual Local Networks Forum, which will take place in conjunction with the UN Global
Compact Leaders Summit 2010 (24-25 June 2010, New York). Developing the package will involve
reviewing and consolidating existing tools and resources, as well as producing additional elements
to address gaps in guidance.
The meeting was hosted by the Barcelona Center for the Support of the Global Compact.
