Nordic Companies Demonstrate Climate Leadership

(Copenhagen, 24 May 2009) - Highlighting their efforts in the global fight against climate change, chief executives of 19 Nordic companies organized in the Global Compact Nordic Network met with UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon in Copenhagen on Sunday. During the meeting, hosted by the Confederation of Danish Industries (DI), the business leaders discussed their climate goals and initiatives and made a number of presentations to showcase best and emerging practices in tackling climate change. Also at the meeting, held just prior to the opening of the World Business Summit on Climate Change, CEOs presented the Secretary-General with a new publication titled "Caring for Climate: Nordic Best Practice", a collection of 22 case studies from Nordic business signatories to Caring for Climate, the Global Compact's engagement platform on climate change.
