(New York, 20 January 2008) - The United Nations Global Compact will co-sponsor the largest student investment conference, R.I.S.E. VIII (Redefining Investment Strategy Education), at the University of Dayton, Ohio, to be held on 27-29 March, 2008. Last year’s conference attracted more than 1700 participants representing 218 colleges in 58 countries.
The three-day conference provides students and faculty with access to a variety of keynote panels, specialized breakout sessions and workshops, as well as an optional student-managed portfolio competition. International universities may also connect remotely to the R.I.S.E. keynote presentations. In addition, R.I.S.E. VIII participants will be a part of the first NASDAQ Remote Closing Bell Ceremony on a college campus, which will be held live during R.I.S.E. VIII on 27 March, 2008.
As part of the forum, the University of Dayton, USA and Loyola Institute of Business Administration, India, in conjunction with R.I.S.E. VIII, are presenting “Mindful Leadership,” a national-level competition for graduate and undergraduate students in India through 31 January, 2008. The “Mindful Leadership” competition, set on the United Nations Global Compact’s core values in the areas of human rights, labour standards, the environment and anti-corruption, will provide a platform for students to contribute meaningful ideas and initiatives to combat challenges faced in today’s business environment.
