Kurdish Parliament Passes Oil and Gas Law with Global Compact Reference

( Erbil, 6 August 2007 ) - The National Assembly of the Kurdistan Region of Iraq today passed the new Kurdistan Oil and Gas Law , requiring all businesses seeking a petroleum contract in Kurdistan to "demonstrate a commitment to the Ten Principles of the Global Compact". The passing of the new legal framework marks the first time that a piece of legislation explicitly references the Global Compact.
