G8 Summit Supports the Global Compact

(New York, 8 June 2007) - The Summit Declaration of the G8 Summit 2007 Heiligendamm expresses explicit support of the United Nations Global Compact (paragraph 25) and calls for greater cooperation in this area (paragraph 26). Furthermore, it encourages in particular the active engagement of mining sector companies in the Global Compact (paragraph 84).
