(New York, 3 November 2006) - In another sign of the growing
interest in the UN Global Compact by US-based corporations, Levi Strauss&
Co. (LS&CO.) today announced its participation in the initiative, joining
such US companies as Pfizer, Coca-Cola, DuPont, Starbucks, Johnson Controls,
Seagate, Symantec and eBay.
Our participation in the Global Compact
is a natural extension of the corporate citizenship work we have been committed
to for decades, said Phil Marineau, Chief Executive Officer of LS&CO.
We look forward to engaging with companies from around the world to advance the
Compact's vision of a more sustainable and inclusive global
economy.
