Heads of State Encourage Responsible Business Practices

New York, 15 June (Global Compact Office) Heads of State and Government gathered at the United Nations for the High-Level Plenary Meeting of the 60th General Assembly have agreed on an Outcome Document for the World Summit 2005, covering a wide range of issues vital for the future of the Organization.

The declaration also includes an explicit reference to the Global Compact, providing important political legitimacy for the UN Global Compact and conveying broad-based support. Paragraph 174 of the declaration says:

“We encourage responsible business practices such as advanced by the Global Compact”.
