On the occasion of the 2005 Transatlantic Bridge Award Gala on 24 February in
New York, the Friends of the Freie Universität Berlin (FFUB) and the Global
Compact officially launched the Kofi Annan International Fellowship in Global
Governance. Under the terms of the fellowship, up to twenty doctoral and
postdoctoral fellows will work with the Global Compact, its partner
organizations and participating businesses to advance research and teaching with
regard to good corporate citizenship and transparency within the public and
private sectors.
“The Global Compact has had a longstanding and
productive relationship with the Freie Universität Berlin. This Fellowship
Program will be of great assistance in helping advance the mission of the Global
Compact and in developing the capacities of future leaders to contribute to
better global governance ”, says Georg Kell, Executive Head of the Global
Compact.
The Transatlantic Bridge Award Gala is hosted annually by
the Friends of the Freie Universität Berlin to honor individuals who embrace
significant global challenges, and by their vision, character and leadership,
achieve important contributions on both sides of the Atlantic. This year’s
honoree is Prof. Dr. Klaus Schwab, Founder and Executive Chairman of the World
Economic Forum.
