On 15 March 2004, John G. Ruggie, Special Advisor to the Secretary-General on the Global Compact, spoke at a special meeting of the Alfred Herrhausen Society in Frankfurt/Germany. The meeting, titled "The State, Business and Civil Society – From Standoff to Partnership?", took place as part of a series of events addressing global issues.
