On 21 October, Georg Kell, Executive Head of the Global Compact, and Alain de
Dommartin, Chief Executive Officer of the European Foundation for Quality
Management (EFQM) signed a memorandum of understanding between their
organizations, aiming to promote corporate citizenship through the effective use
of leading-edge management practices. The memorandum follows an earlier
commitment by EFQM to integrate the Global Compact’s nine principles into the
CSR guidelines of its EFQM Excellence Model, a non-prescriptive management
framework currently used by over 20,000 organisations across
Europe.
“This partnership marks a tremendous leap forward in our
efforts to align business practices with the concept of good corporate
citizenship,” said Georg Kell. “EFQM’s strong support of the Global Compact once
again reinforces the notion that corporate social responsibility makes sound
business sense.”
