G8 Finance Ministers Support Global Compact

On 16-17 May, G8 finance ministers gathered in Deauville, France, in preparation of the upcoming G8 Summit (1-3 June in Evian-les-Bains, France). In a joint statement issued on 17 May, the ministers expressed their encouragement for "voluntary private sector initiatives that foster and complement such international efforts to promote corporate social and environmental responsibility as the OECD guidelines for Multinational Enterprises and the UN Global Compact principles."
